If you had booked air travel for a non essential family trip would this corona virus thing have you thinking about canceling your trip?
What if small children or the elderly were a part of the group flying?
I just curios -

Probably, so many trips/events are being cancelled by businesses, just to be on the safe side.
I'd not risk my family on travel if I didn't have to.
it's bad enough when you get on an airplane these days, they are so crowded, people don't honor personal space, don't cover their face when coughing/sneezing, and that's without the covid-19 issues.
I still plan to attend the slingshot events, they are all outside, and if someone is coughing, I'm staying away, usually do anyway, I don't like colds, etc.
The whiskey will help kill anything else
Nope I would keep my plans
everyone else could make their own choices
Just a bunch of media hype
I've been out of the country and had to fly back home. If situations were reversed, I'd have stayed home and as far away from crowded planes or cruise ships until this nasty thing was over
apparently the very young don't seem to have much to fear from this thing - - - its us older folk that seem to be most at risk especially those who are 70+
Ummmm... I believe you and your family just survived a volcano, correct?! What's a lil virus?
Ummmm... I believe you and your family just survived a volcano, correct?! What's a lil virus?
You are correct, and considering the survival rate for this virus is better than the flu I am not really worried about it, but not being worried and doing unwise things are not the same - - just because I am not losing sleep over this does not mean I want to be a greeter at the international terminal at LAX welcoming people from China and Italy - - choices - - we all have choices and I was just curious to hear what others might choose
The Captain & I have plans to fly to Scotland and tour the highlands by train this summer. See no reason to change plans at this time.

I am glad that you have made it back home safely

With all the media saying DON'T cruise/fly the planes will probably be less crowded by the time you want to go.
I am glad that you have made it back home safely
Thanks Gerald. We are home, but saying it was safely is a bit of a stretch. Hope to be feeling better by the weekend
Since they just locked down an entire country either someone is lying or they are lying.
fly with 350 of your closet friends like sardines or sail with 5000 sardines.
the people that died in the nursing home in Washington showed no symptoms in the morning and they were dead that night.
so move along nothing to see here.
An hour ago there was an article on yahoo about a doctors assistant that got the virus. He’s warning everyone about how fast he’s going down hill. I searched with 2 different search engines and the article is totally gone.
More nothing to see here. He was told they didn’t need to wear masks.
For most, people seem to think we adapt.
But...
The probability is more likely, life style changes after-the-fact.
COVID-19 symptoms may take 2 to 14 days to appear.
Whether you choose to accept it or ignore it...
It's out there and it is moving.
The question should be...
Do I want to be the one who brings it home?
One man's misery is another man's fortune.
We, (Justina, my 87 year old mother, and me), just returned from a trip to Norway transferring through Medford Oregon, (twice), Denver, (twice), Oslo, (twice), Tromso, (twice), Frankfurt, Munich......................

if one person in a multiple person household gets exposed...the entire group is going to be secluded in that house for 2-3 weeks....no work, no shopping, no socializing, no church, no school....no income....
My job is working in very close direct contact with the public....I’m trying to figure how to manage that and keep myself safe from exposure....and at what point do I just stop until this blows over.

I thought you were retired...?

My wife is a card dealer in a local casino - she deals directly with many many people every night and handles cards, money & chips that are also all handled by the players at the tables - - dealers rotate through a "string" of tables and then a get a break before they do the next string Sara is very good about washing her hands after every string as soon as she goes on break - - despite this kind of contact with the public Sara almost never gets sick usually at most a cold maybe once a year and despite her contact with the public usually any colds that do come to our home come by way of the grand kids bringing them home from school
The University is planning on having everyone teach from home via skype or some similar group meeting software. The Captain is worried though, she works at a bank - state and federal laws demand that banks stay open - folks have to have access to their money. I hope they shut the lobby down and just have drive through if there is an outbreak.
I thought you were retired...?
yes....15 years ago from my real job.....I have 27 years in my fun job...
good catch...
I am 37, lucky enough that 95% of my flying is on non commercial planes and have chosen to postpone all non essential flying/meetings until further notice not because I am worried about myself but my elderly parents.
I would hate to be the one passing it to them specially since my dad is somewhat immuno compromised, so I rather err on the side of caution.
