If there was a way to carry a spare tire on your SS on a trip....would you?
Spare tire question

No. I have a small compressor and repair kit. If that doesn’t work I’ll call road service.

Somebody looking for info on a spare tire?
-
might as well dump the Slingshot and go with a baja runner

IF I was running the same diameter tires all round, I might consider a spare, although I would probably try to carry the most compact spare (for reasons of storage) that I felt safely met the needs of either front or rear tire w/o triggering the safety nannies.

The only way I would even entertain that thought would be if I were planning an extended trip where I would regularly be in extreme desolate places. A tire plug kit that you put in from the inside of the tire, a bead buster(google it) and a small compressor would be a lot easier to pack and it would work on all the tires. Of course I'd probably throw in a normal plug kit and a can of fix-a-flat also for the minor stuff.

Spare tire? Yep, seen it. Mounted on the rear on the same slope angle as the fin held in place on a frame by a huge three point spanner nut hold down.
When and where you say?
Last year at Maggie Valley!
Y'all gotta come! Shit happens here!

The problem with a spare tire is once you put it on you don't have a spare tire!
-
Would you carry a spare on a motorcycle?
-
Yep! But she will have to hang on! Think some kinda law would be violated if I were to mount her on the bike...

I had a dream about a spare tire mounted on the back of my SS and it looked pretty good...

How did it handle in the rain....was it a wet dream?

Good thing I had a spare....

Pull a trailer and put both sizes of wheel/tire on it. I carry a plug kit, compressor and road side assistance card.

That's what I do with my quads - one front, one rear and two trailer spares so I have a spare if I use my spare. But I go on some pretty lousy roads...

I think something like this could probably be pretty easily built and used with the wycked hitch system. I would invert it and make sure it was kicked out from the rear tire a bit, but if you were intent on carrying a spare, I think this would be a good route to go.

IF you decide to run the same size wheels all round, you might consider removing the fin and carrying a donut of the appropriate size to allow you some driving distance in the event of a tire failure, but that's a lot of work for a hopefully unlikely event.
