If you need to donate go look for a donation box and go out for a real ride and enjoy your slingshot for what it was meant for.
Not a parade but real road riding down a twisty curvy road and smile every mile that you do not have to worry about
going to slow or to fast or being to big to fit in.
Polaris Slingshot officialy banned from Ct united Ride!

A reason many people get upset about not being included in a bike event is because we came to own a Slingshot after owning other motorcycles. These are events we attended or perhaps helped organize.
-
Even if it's classified as an autocycle. It still says part of it is considered a CYCLE or it wouldn't have it in the autocycle classification. We are a hybrid part car part cycle...but all fun..
The problem with having a subcategory of autocycle is that there is no standardization. My state has a motorcycle subcategory of autocycle but the definition doesn't work for a slingshot. Until the Fed makes a new class for it manufacturing will be done as a motorcycle.

Hey if we are outcast than so be it !!!!! But like most say we went from 2 wheels to 3 wheelers for reasons some do not want to admit to.
Most are old geezers (yes me at 66) . I can not slow down on 2 wheelers and drive like a 20 yr old and fell down with wife 3 times in hairpin corners.
So at Deadwood SD where we fell was First 3 wheel Rally of Deadwood 2014 and looked at wife and Henry from Alpha was there and talked to him and
told him we fell yesterday in Needles on BMW and ask could I take it for ride. He looked at wife and I and said yes take it out.
10 miles and looked at wife and said can not fall over , can roll ..LOL And 2 months later ordering one and Henry had
a customer for life ,Turbo, wing, brakes, suspension and few other small items.I just went few weeks ago for my first Slingshot ride with 13 others through covered bridges of Pa..
Enjoyed it but to much control for my taste and traffic and waiting and budding in to keep everyone together.
Then 2 days later went back by myself and enjoyed the ride 100% more. Can stop take pictures when you want and
stop and eat when you want.. That is my SS riding I prefer.. Each to their own.. but get out and ride !!! -
The CT United Ride greatly appreciates everyone's support each year.
Due to Law Enforcement, State permit and Local safety and insurance concerns we have to implement the following restrictions for the safety of all the riders in the motorcade to maintain a staggered motorcade.
There have been issues with the large size of vehicles and conversely the lack of power of the smaller engines.
Motorcycles Only - ALL Must be Highway Compliant / over 125 CC's
We do not go on the Highway, But the need to close gaps requires engine strength that can safely and legally travel on the highway.
NOT ALLOWED in the motorcade- 4 wheeled vehicles
- Dune Buggy style vehicles
- Slingshots
- Vespa's
- Scooters
- Motorcycle Trailers
ALLOWED in the motorcade
- Trikes that have tandem seating and handlebars
- Two wheeled motorcycle with a side car.
So I can bring my Can Am? Humm just cause I have a seat next to me I can't but if I have a seat behind me I can. Makes sense now.

IMHO - if I was running a charity event I wouldn't give a damn if ya showed up with a horse & buggy ........ long as you didn't forget your wallet !!!
-
I was in a charity ride on Saturday motorcycles in front Slingshots next then everything else last. All police escorted all over the Indianapolis area! Didn't seem to be a problem. Lots of motorcycles and I think 22 or 23 Slingshots!

I wonder what would happen if you put a steering wheel on the Spyder
-
Anyone showing up in a Stallion is going to be pissed, steering wheel.
-
Keeping it as a motorcycle by the Feds is probably the best thing for it...us ....a totally new category could screw us...regulation wise ..
-
For those who wanted to know what happened last year at the CT United ride here is a link
the reporter gets the story from both sides but I still say that guy is a lying pos!

@Tony Z, they didn't mention Spyder, let alone the T-Rex. Or Stallion. The Harley trikes can't ride side by side. The Slingshot in my state is registered as an Autocycle. That is so they can add "seat belts must be worn" and "no motorcycle endorsement is needed". Other than that.... it is titled as a "Motorcycle", insured as a "Motorcycle". There is no "Autocycle" title or insurance in my state. I only say this, to make a point. The organizers were being a$$holes. Thing is, they missed out on money for the cause, because of egos. I have two Harleys in my garage still, so I feel I see both sides.
But then again, who cares really? I just want to do what makes me happy and not hurt anyone. I did the #SavannahStrong ride on this last Saturday. Some accepted us, some not so much. But we contributed, likely a few thousand in cash. It's a benefit..... do you want our help and $$ or not?
I donate many places. I even, with one of my friends help, put on a ride in Sept to help someone in need locally. But I usually avoid these kinds of rides that you talk about here. Too much politics, too much drama. There are too many causes I can donate to that are simple. I want to help, and they are thankful. Ones like this one can kiss... off. (censored version)
-
And even discussing it here has us more hated...damned if you do and damned if you don't
I still think it has to do with stealing the show...
I generally steer clear of large crowds...it just ups the odds of running into an a-hole...
-
I can take the Cheetah on the ride but not the Slingshot -- the Cheetah is 4" wider than my Sling
-
OH MY !!!! I can see a size limit applied and just like air carrier bags and you drive over this template and you are told to get out..LOL
Hey every body has to control somebody and these donation drives the people in charge see only what they want to see.
Hmmmm sounds like #45 that he is called...LOL -
In Illinois, along with a lot of other states, it is an autocycle. Most motorcycle laws still apply. I have a motorcycle plate, so I call it a bike. When I went to get my plate sticker this year they changed my registration card. It actually says Polaris LSV. Low Speed Vehicle? Are you serious? Obviously someone that made that decision has never ridden in one.
As far as what happened in CT, if they don't want your money, give it to another charity that does.
-
Present that card to your insurance company and ask them for your slow speed discount...the DMV is never wrong..
-
I just call it fun...could care less what everyone else calls it
I call it a motorcycle cause it's cheaper to ensure that way!!
