I've powder coated my brake calipers and mount, and upper and lower control arms. I have also had several parts that I have purchased from several suppliers powder coated in custom colors to match the rest of my parts. If you need a special color and they don't have it, just call them up and ask. I use prismatic illusion violet and my parts as a great accent to the orange. It is the same purple that Alpha used to use on their parts.

You do know that there are plugs under the seats for heaters, right? Polaris ran the harness, but never installed heated seats or an option for them. At least the early models did. Not sure if they decided to save the money on the newer ones and not do that

Not trying to hijack the thread, but.... So are the wires already powered and just need a switch added? I am getting ready to order some seats and was going to get the heated option.

just a quick update. She had her fourth and hopefully final surgery this morning. They did a large skin graph on her leg. Lots of pain still but it looks like we are over the hump and hopefully in the next couple of weeks she may start to walk again.

Thanks to all the slingshot family for your thoughts and prayers.

Just an update. We are going in this morning for surgery, They are going to do skin graphs to replace the dead tissue on her shin. It is a large wound and will be painful, but we are happy because we know this will be the begining of the healing process.

Thanks to all for the prayers and well wishes. I have been a part of the sling family from the begining (got mine in March of 2015 and joined the dark side that January) And I continue to be amazed at what a tight knit family we have.

    HI Everyone.

I've been \away for a while dealing with life issues. First the wife had a scare with the big C, and we got past that. Then my mom had another stroke right after Thanksgiving. She is doing well now, regaining strength, but she is getting up there with age and a lot of health issues to deal with. We just accept fate and the cycle of life, greatful for every day the good Lord gives us with her.

Then comes the night of January 25th.

It was getting late and we were ready for bed. About 11:30 pm there is a knocking on our back door. We knew instantly who it was. My wifes 29 yr old drug addictted son was there. We checked the security cameras and saw him on the patio. We havent had any contact with him for over a year, even though we are raising his 3 year old son. Another camera showed several individuals in a car in the drive. We called 911 but living in the country takes time for them to get here. After about 20 minutes of knocking and him trying to force the door open, the people in the car get out and open the trunk to put stuff in. They were here to rob us.
I thought they were trying to break into the garage. I went out the front door to suprise them and told Kate to stay inside. She didn't listen. I had them at gunpoint when she came out and they all started yelling at each other. It turned out the driver was her son's drug dealer and he owed the guy $300 and they were going to take it. They were actually trying to steal a restored globe to pgas pump. They were trying to put it in the back seat of a BMW. Drugs apparently make you stupid. It's 7 ft tall and weighs over 300 pounds.

Anyway, I had them at gunpoint and all was well until Kate got in the line of fire. The driver jumped back in the car and put it in reverse. Kate was in the way and I went to pull her aside when he floored it. It ran over her and struck me. Yes, it RAN OVER HER. I slid down the side of the car and got hung up on the drivers side mirror. My gun was at the window and his face was bright red from the laser. I pulled the trigger 3 times but nothing happened. It turns out that when i went to pull her out of the way, I hit the slide safety. Kimber 1911 for you gun guys. He got away but I gav the police a description and direction of travel and they got them before they made it back to town.

My leg was injured but is healing. I was on crutches for weeks but can now walk ok without. I won't be running any races anytime soon. Kate wasn't as fortunate. She had a tramatic brain injury but will recover from that. Her shoulder was in 20to30 pieces. The surgeon did an awsome job and rebuilt it. The worst was her leg. I saw the tire spinning as it went over her calf. No broken bones or muscle issues. She has a large area on her shin that the skin died. She currently has an open wound with a wound vacume on it. It is about 18cm x 20cm. When they change the dressing, you can see bones and muscles.

She will recover, but they said it will be at least a year before she can get back to work. If she can raise her hand level with her shoulder, the will be happy.

After 15 days in the hospital, she is home but in extreme pain. 2 surgeries so far but more, including skin graphs, to come.

I just ask that you keep us in your prayers. Like I said, you can't make this up.....

In Illinois, along with a lot of other states, it is an autocycle. Most motorcycle laws still apply. I have a motorcycle plate, so I call it a bike. When I went to get my plate sticker this year they changed my registration card. It actually says Polaris LSV. Low Speed Vehicle? Are you serious? Obviously someone that made that decision has never ridden in one.

As far as what happened in CT, if they don't want your money, give it to another charity that does.

They are terrible in cold and wet conditions. You could run them, but you would have to be super careful.
I ordered a new set for my track tire/wheel setup and will drive carefully to the events if it is cold or wet.

I have seen two crashed Slingshots with them installed. Maybe the tires and conditions had something to do with that....

I concur with @TravAZ on the R888. It sucks in wet weather. I lost control at 40mph in a rain storm and couldn't get it back. I was trying to decide which side of the bridge I wanted to hit when I got it back under me. Since then, I stop in the rain.

Was considering a second rear tire/wheel for road trips and was thinking about going with the G2.

I guess I am one of the newest members to the the BF light club. I'll be damned if I am paying dealer over $500 to replace sensors. It would be cheaper to buy the pressure sensors and the brake switch and just replace everything myself. Does anyone have any other suggestions of what I might need? (other than brake fluid, shop towels, etc)

Earlier in this thread they are talking about not being able to get an estimate....or find parts...your motorcycle insurance company took your money fast enough...they should be able to get an estimate that fast too...

Anyone can buy parts on line....the biggest issue would be if the frame is bent...that said can a frame straightening shop fix our frames?

If the frame is ok, take the new parts to a body shop get them to paint them....take pictures of everything...get them to install them or you install them and turn in your receipts to your insurance company..they might not like it but too bad...

In my case, it wasn't an issue with the insurance company. It was an issue with finding a dealer local that was willing to work on it. The one in town said bring it in and they would have an estimate by the end of summer. The deer slaying happened in June. I didn't want to go to far because I would have to run back and forth to get body panels to the body shop for paint and then back. So he told me to give him a number and he would pay it. I ended up doing the work myself, which I preferred. Then there was some delay in getting some of the parts. The inner hood structure was on back order for a while.

Mine was all bolt on damage. Mostly plastic and the front bolt on frame section, the one that supports the headlights. So it really was an easy fix but just a pain to wait all summer. So far, this summer is doing good.

And no, I do not have deer whistles installed. I am in the country and near a large pond that the deer use for a water source. One night the security system went off and I looked on the monitor. There were 17 deer standing in my driveway and yard. A good size buck was right next to my truck. So tempting. With all the deer in the area, night time drives are much slower than they used to be. The hair on the back of my neck and a pair of dangling appendages tend to shrink up every time I drive at night.
