The tread bars are now on the surface of my rear tire. I have always replaced my tires when that happens. When have you guys replaced your OE tires? I plan on hitting the local tire shops and see what they can do for me. There is a Hankook dealer and a Goodyear dealer close buy. Both the Hankook tires and Goodyear tires were in the search I did. I am just wondering how serious about changing the tire I should be.
When did you repalce the OE tires

If it is your rear tire on the bars it is time to change. If it were mine I would not ride it in the rain.
-
Do you have a Discount Tire anywhere near you?
-
I replaced with Nitto tires at 400 miles to get better tires and put mags on at same time.
-
You're going to get answers all over the place. Someone with a turbo doing donuts isn't going to get the same tire mileage as the proverbial little old lady. Seems from other posts that most folks can get 12K or better on rear and 20 or so on the fronts. Mine were looking good at 8K but I swapped out to BFG Sport Comp 2s because I wanted a better tire than OEM.

I have 9k on my OEM tires and will replace the rear tire this weekend with something as it got a little loose on me in the rain this last weekend. Looking at either the Nitto or the BFG... since I'm not doing a full set replacement I don't think it matters and I don't expect more than 10k out of the tire the way I drive.
-
Only got 6,400 on the original rear. Put Nitto 555 on. I'm at 10,000 now and rear still looking good.
-
16,000 miles just about to the wear bar was going to Maggie Valley for the weekend did not want to take a chance on wet weather. Changed out and kept for a spare in case I had to wait a few days for a tire

Hated the stock tires, especially in the rain. Lasted less than 1500 miles before ditching them. My life deserves better.
Goodyear Eagle F1s, and no regrets. Rear lasted 13k miles or so before replacement. Fronts look new. I ride hard.
Still not good in snow, but that is a different story. Need to buy chains or studded tires.

My Slingshot was the dealer demo. The tire is down to the tread bar at 4800 miles.

I am looking at the following tires.
1 Goodyear Eagle sport all season $163
2. Hankook Evo 2 $163
3. Bridgestone Potenza RE960 A/S $254 Is this tire really worth almost $100 more
4. Nitto 555 Have not talked to a local dealer yet. No Price yet.
5. Firestone Fire Hawk $135Any opinions?

Look at the BFG G Force Comp 2 summer
I have been running them for about 3K so far they are great! -
Just installed Michelin Pilot Super Sports. They stick like glue but are expensive.
-
Nitto 555 ...... Running them over a year and 4 months now.......Great tires for the SS.....One of the first upgrades including rims a month after purchase......
-
Replaced my OEM rear tire at 10K miles. Now have almost 20K and thinking about new tires. OEM Fronts are still serviceable, but rear will soon need replacing. I plan on getting a Laser alignment once I replace all 3 tires.

Ballpark price?

Just installed the Nitto 555 after 8500 miles. ($130.00). Wear bars where already flatlined on the Kenda and I'm sure I had nothing to do with it . I could have most likely got another 1500 miles out of that tire, but when it is the only thing holding my ass on the road as I corner at the suggested 30mph speed... I did keep the kenda's on the front for now, looks like they will last another 10k or so. I stopped by the dealer to ask for price for Kenda for rear. $270.00, not installed. Your kidding me right? I don't want the tire and wheel, just the tire. Nope, just the tire. LOL No freaking way Polaris!
-
the retail cost for the kenda is $75. The Slingshot private label on the side (makes you go faster) is an extra $195...
