So @rupturedduck was nice enough to send me a new top and I installed it 2 days ago. We left last night heading to Dave@DDMWorks. Lost the pressure washer and gas can we were brining to the in laws somewhere on I-75 near Cordele, Ga. Then I noticed this at my next fill up. Yep, nice piece of aluminum went through the brand new top and landed in the driver's seat
Off to a bad start.

Wow! Glad it did not come through the windshield!
-
Glad no one was occupying the seat. That would have me slinging some bad words in all directions. Glad it wasn't a pressure washer...
-
Wow.... Guess I need to see about a Kevlar version....
So glad you are OK. Look at it this way. Maybe it kept it from striking the rear fin or hoops and causing a big scratch or dent....
We can work something out.

Seems like a good time to release the mesh replacement covers while it is still hot. We are in!!!!

agree.... Still in the busy season for my fabric guy. Currently doing some bespoke colored fabrics. I'll have one extra blue and red if there is interest.
@Street Doc had a premature warranty claim for his first top so it was replaced.
I'll be visiting my guy today and the mesh will be discussed. -
can you PM me a picture of the blue top?
-
@Slingrazor I'll get you some pics as soon as I have it to test install.
-
@Street Doc I'm still scratching my head and thinking what ifs....
Sorry this happened but thankfully you are OK.
So you didn't find it until you stopped for gas?...
-
If that was in a downward trajectory could it not have hit you while driving? Man glad that went the way it did.

I assume it was on the trailer...?

So now that @Ruptured Duck has let the cat out of the bag, I will let you in on a secret. As far as I know, I will be getting the first blue top. I don't think Patrick really wanted to go there just yet, but I was able to convince him. I am just waiting to hear when he can ship it to me. I also ordered the lift assist. He has already sent out the hood lift assist and bags which I have already installed. I have to tell you, the hood lift is a vast improvement over stock, it's so much easier and smoother opening and closing. When my wife saw how much room there is in the bags she started to plan for multi day trips. As soon as I have the top installed I will post pictures so all of you other Bluefire owners can see how great it looks. (And maybe drool a little)

@jpb19403.... LoL... Not 100% out of the bag..... Just that to get yours made I had to commit to two tops. Soooooo kind of need to get it sold. As for red I needed images to even start to sell so maybe these will help spur interest. Have to work out what the cost will be...
Now back to @Street Doc... As @KayTwo said, was it in a trailer?
-
@Ruptured Duck
Wife interested, she needs visual to commit. -
I assume it was on the trailer...?
Yes, it was -
That looks a lot better than mine does right now
-
Bummer...glad no one was hurt.
-
That looks a lot better than mine does right now
Yeah... If that had happened to mine... Well... I just don't even want to think about it...

Did I miss something? What is wrong with your Sling?
