Yep!! Safe and sound at DDM getting some love!!
That engineer did some great work on your house, next time have him cover the outside of your house with the wrap your sling was covered with. You have proven that would of held on till at least 70 mph.
Clad that your Ranch survived.
Bill Martin did your house fare better than others nearby or does everyone build to the same standard as you did?
I'm glad to hear you're not homeless! I don't know how I would take that at my age but 'new beginnings' doesn't have any appeal to me at all.
So will you have to wait for power to be restored to get back home for clean up and repair?
Peace Brother!

No - I built up stronger and better than anybody on the island I live on. My house is built on 12x12 pilings 8 ft in ground. Engineer made me use all laminated beams (expensive) cause he said knots on the inside you couldn’t see caused failures during Hurricane Rita. So I got razzed by other coonasses for overbuilding🤔? Anyway - the 10x10 pilings snapped like a twig - the concrete pilings are still standing but they don’t flex with the gusts and the house snapped off the top of the piling. I’m going to have pics to post soon - house is only accessible by boat right now - pontoon bridge sank one way and debris on road blocked the other. It is a real mess down there. The ones that stayed I talked to said it was the stupidest thing they ever did - thought they would die - never again!!
Bill Martin Just want to say I am very glad you are safe and well and that your home stood up Laura.
This morning I am reflecting on a childhood story I bet many of you remember..
and Laura came knockin and I was the baddest pig on the block
The 3 little pigs story like you’ve never heard before... it’s clean & funny!
Well all I know is that you bragged a lot about how your structure could withstand a big blow without erupting, and now you have proof.
I am with you Tripod
Yea!! - - - Humidity is currently 8%
I hate humidity
90° and humidity 80% Love Northern Indiana in the Summer Time.. Swimming in your own sweat...
Walter the weatherman...
Hit 80 today so at 4:30 I decided to go for a short ride to test the hip replacement out. Ended up doing 40 miles so I'm back in the saddle. Hardest part was getting out with the broken shoulder. Sure felt great to be riding again!
I worked in Newport today not bad at all!

I used to go offshore at Cameron- I am well acquainted with La weather and it’s consequences- so glad you are safe.
You know you live in the desert when you are watching the weather report on the evening news and the newscaster is excitedly talking about how there is going to be a dramatic cool off starting Saturday and lasting at least through Monday and then goes on to say the expected highs for the three days are 107, 105 & 103 - - - I guess it is cool compared to where we have been, but to hear the guy on the news you would have expected the 70's or 80's
going back up over 110-114 after that
