Potential Purchase

Is this a Polaris paint job or custom. Haven't seen it before. Thinking of buying this 2019 SL this weekend. Dealer is asking 21,500 and it has just over 3k miles. Any tips on what to look for?
Thanks

It's at a car dealer and he wants it off the lot. I'd offer 18k and settle around 19. The gold trim is custom.

With 3k miles I'd expect to see the stock Kenda tire on the rear or someone was lighting it up. The black and gold looks really sharp! I'd hit them at $17k - nothing wrong with starting low. I wouldn't think they'd give more than $14-15k on a trade, if that.
Edit: What I meant was that I don't think the dealership paid more than $14-15k for that Sling in trade-in value. Tony Miller you'll thank yourself if/when you buy a Sling.

Thank you!

Look for normal things that you would look for in a car:
- Tire wear - Stock Kenda's get <10K miles in the rear, 20K miles in front.
- Look for damage underneath (scraped frame).
- Open the hood and make sure everything looks like it should. This is the same engine/trans as the Pontiac Solstice so easy to see issues & work on.
- Make sure nothing's cut-up/missing/etc.
- Check to make sure trans shifts smoothly,
- Gauges/Lights all work properly.
- How many accessories are on it, if any?
And yes, that gold is a custom. Previous owner took it apart for paint (or wrap?).
New, the SL sold for about $30K, less if someone got a good deal. In 2018 I bought my 2016.5 SL for $15K OTD with ~2500 miles on it. High teens ($17-19K) should be reasonable.

Love the color scheme, I would also offer in the 17-18k range and settle at 19k if you want it.

I’d offer 3 fiddy...
-
make sure it has all the recalls done...Dealers stick small square white stickers on the driver side frame under the hood...near the brake fluid tank.

check the vin number with car fax.....

http://www.free-carfax.org/ind…otorcycle-fax-report-freeLow ball and keep saying no....until you can’t take it anymore....if it’s a really good deal it might not last long....

21 seems high. I would say thats 19 tops.
-
I think 21,500 is high. 19 would be good. But, I would not walk away for 2k if you really want a sling. Your going to get WAY more than 2k in smiles as you go down the road. Plus it really looks sharp!

I bought a used van several years ago...it was in good shape, low miles....Very hard to find them like this....the salesman wanted $12,999......After lots of negotiations....he would not drop $1 off the price......he knew what he had and that I wanted it.....I drove 100 miles to see it...I paid $12,999....

They saw you coming!!! (The tinfoil hat is always a dead giveaway... 😁)

Damn salesmen. They're part of a vast conspiracy.

Good find. I wish I woulda bought mine slightly used. Salesman seen me coming for miles away.
Only thing I ever bought in my life and paid sticker for.

that’s what happens when you can’t walk away.

You should have tried to buy in 2015 (like me). Getting anything close to MSRP was impossible. I think I ended up paying about $25K OTD for the first one - just a base. Got a much better deal on #2 - Used MC Dealer didn't really know what it was worth and I low balled him. 3rd one I made a killer deal for - because I bought a bunch of accessories as part of the deal.

Got it at a fair price.
