Just bought a New 2019 Slingshot SL. Is there a break in oil we need to change before 3000 miles?
Break In oil

500 miles and change the oil
-
Ok...thanks

Congrats on your new SS. I have an '18 and after the first 300 oil change, I did the next at 5k, then 10K, 15K, etc. Easy to remember.
-
Also a 500 mile break-in period for the engine. No jackrabbit starts or hard acceleration and vary the rpms when cruising.

Reset trip 2 on the odometer every time you change the oil and you will not have to remember the mileage number for the next oil change

I don't bother with checking the mileage between oil changes. I just change it every time I change the rear tire. That usually works out to be about 5,000 miles

I thought you only got about 3,000 miles per rear tire

I changed the oil at just under 1 thousand...Then at 5 thousand a notice came up on the radio/screen 'Change Oil Soon'' i changed it at 6 thousand....I have a 2018 SL ...I have over 10 thousand on the odometer now...Waiting to see if the notice comes up again at 11 thousand...
And by the way .....There isn't such a thing as break-in oil....That went out in the early 60's....

Yeah, changing oil is EASY in the GM 2.4. You will have to get you one of those 32mm sockets. And check into the Fumoto Valve (F107SX fits the SS).
Truthfully, try to get your dealer to throw in the first 500mile service, or at least get it reduced in cost. That should engine oil change, lube all the zerk fittings (suspension and drive shaft), and recheck all the bolts that they had to tighten when they did the initial assembly.
You'll want to change the rear angle drive gear oil at about 1500 miles then again by 10K miles, then it should be good after that for a long while.

Royal Purple for the trans. and the angle drive. I changed the angle drive to Royal Purple around 5,000 miles and again at around 50,000 and again at 90,000. The trans.around 5,000 and then again at 90,000. I think both are pretty much broke in. The angle drive has had two front seals replacements and the belt as far as I know has only been adjusted when they did the warranty on the rear axle. I did clean the belt one time.

I did, but when I went to the 345 tire and had to throw over $360 each plus m+b, I took it easy for a while. That plus getting older and too cheap to pay for tickets helps get better tire life

mobile one and valvoline synthetic are top rated for engines...

A dealership 'oil change' little costly, but they also put all the records into the Polaris data bank. just my thoughts.

I have a 19 SLR and I believe the SL has the Ride Command unit in it also. It will tell you how many miles to your next oil change. Congrats on the new Slingshot... they are fun.

Don’t forget changing blinker oil!
JUST SAYIN
welcome to the best family out there. -
