What happened to the warranty?
I have a 2015 SS and the warranty expired. To my knowledge, there is no recall on the Knock Sensor. Are you thinking I had the extended warranty? Am I missing something?

I was thinking the extended warranty, but you must have bought early, Iike I did.
Just curious....does that code always mean knock sensor?
what does your maintenance manual say when you look it up?

Hell All,
On my 2016 SL LE, I just used the one from GM. The harness fit perfect. I disconnected the battery, and the plugs on the ECU for 12 Hrs and the light was still on. I drove it for months with the light on expecting it to shut off, but it never did. I took it to the cloest dealer (Mom's) in Foxboro, MA and they shut it off for free and it hasn't come back on yet!

Looking at the Polaris parts pricing...it seems that they double whatever it costs at the GM dealer.
They charged me $555 for a starter....warranty covered this cost.
Never buy anything from Polaris if it’s related to the engine...it’s all GM parts...
I would not drive it. First check and see if this connector has come loose. It is a common issue for the knock sensor to come off or loose.

One plug and one bolt....that’s the extent of the labor...
You say that, but it's a bit harder to get to than that, gotta remove the intake manifold to be able to get in there, not difficult, but a bit more than you are indicating.
Yep, that picture of the knock sensor is not possible with the intake manifold installed.
I'll let you all know how labor-intense it is to remove the intake manifold...as I will be doing it this weekend.
It's easy, takes just a few minutes.

It is easy, just go ahead and do it.
As we were leaving the Back of the Dragon on Fri., engine light came on an knock sensor code showed up. When we got back to Bristol had code checked at Friendship. Code cleared. Has not come back since then.

And I just did!!!
Still got the light. Just placed my order for a new Knock Sensor. Stay tuned...!!!!
Just don't forget to unbolt the bracket that holds the dipstick to the manifold
So if I replace myself, only the dealer can reset the code?

If the code wont clear by simply turning the Slingshot on/off than it will have to be cleared by the dealer.... Some times a code will clear after a few on/off cycles.

Here's a recent link..There seems to be a lot more "knock sensor" issues with the 2.4 in the Sling than there is in GMs. It almost always is "open circuit" which IMO is caused by the connector. The way the wire is clamped onto the bottom of the intake manifold probably causes a vibration on the short remaining length occasionally unseating the connector contacts. When I put mine back I zip tied in a different spot with a longer length and also brushed some high temp silicone glue across the outside of the connector to hold it firmly in place.
Removal of manifold, is a gasket required when reattaching? Also can you leave everything connected or do you have to undo wiring around manifold?
