Me & the wife were riding today and came across a SS parked in a business lot (this was the 2nd time we seen it there), so we stopped to say hi.
Any way the guy drives 2 hours to work & 2 hours home everyday. He took off his lower fenders as his drive consist of small critters he doesn't want getting caught up and breaking them. He did say with them removed it helps to keep it from trying to float when you go over 130 mph. He said he's never been on any forum as he doesn't have time, but he'll try and get on here some time and check us out.
See picture what are your thoughts? I was up against a building so this was the best pic I could get.

Based on what I remember reading from others who've removed the lower wing, they reported feeling a floating sensation at speeds over 80 mph or so. I drive primarily at night to avoid the Texas heat and have had too many encounters with small critters such as armadillos, opossums and raccoons and have been thinking about removing the lower wing.
It looks like @Nemesis1701 has converted an aluminum rear wing for use as a replacement lower front wing. It looks like he added a couple more pics. I'm asking for a little more info. See - What was today's Sling project-Mods , goodies.....? -
Generally I like it. I wonder how it affects air flow to the engine.

This guy drives from stephenville, TX to Arlington, tx everyday for work, so he removed them. He said it helps with them off to stop the "lifting" feeling you get at 130, but who knows he may have been blowing smoke, as lots claim to go that fast but how many really have? I reach 100 often but never have really gone over that lol.
I'd say with his drive (once out of DFW area) he has the country dead road to try it so he may be correct.
It also did not look bad with them removed as I thought it might be ugly but it wasn't. -

I like it..Looks good to me

I did Ahhhhh look at the original post, i added two more pictures. Now i did not remove anything just added the inverted wing where the picture shows. Long days at work plus it dirty under the SS and pictures suck.
Need more I'll gladly provide. @BKLI noticed the new pics as I was writing my earlier post here. I like that and will keep it in mind when/if I remove my lower wing.

Early on, in early 2015, Otter(not on this forum) had removed the lower wing and the front splash guards as his first mod which progress to the his hot rod four conversion. As I remember he stated it dropped 70 pounds off and said it was less floaty at higher speeds. I sure it would be true especially with the splash guards removed. It is easy on and off, good solution to hitting critters constantly, doesn't look all bad either, maybe a little unfinished.

This guy that lives near Austin makes these front bumper bad boys.

I can't speak to the handling with it removed, but here's a different angle of what it looks like when all that crap is removed.
Kind of looks like a toothless dragon...
-
Don't mean this is a negative way, it just reminds me of the old Meyers Manx dune buggy.

Force Boss will come out with these bad boys soon.
