@Tripod - you're messed up
Recall on swingarm recall?
-
-
My Slingshot is headed in next Tuesday for the swingarm recall.
I have had zero issues with my swingarm. No noise from the drive belt. No leaks. No bearing issues.
I feel like I am opening Pandora's box - honestly a little uncomfortable and hoping this doesn't introduce new issues to deal with.
Welcome to "the box"...Polaris is 62 years old, eventually they'll be old enough that they won't "recall" anything.

Yup, I was(not really)there when they did the certification .... even took a picture during the process for your records .....

That must have been a joke @Skullshot... I liked it...
Yours too @Rob the Slob! And BTW... Nice new avatar...

I just bought my SS last Thursday. Called the dealer in Roanoke Va and gave them my vin #. I need 4 recalls and the swing arm is one of them. He said he'd call when he had the parts. How long do you guys think it'll take for me to get that call? Lol
-
Two weeks...

"And I won't.." no wait, that is for another forum

I'm off to the biggest meeting of Polaris (Indian, SlingShot & Victory) riders, in the UK this weekend.
I don't expect that we will see very many SlingShots, but the Polaris Britain crew arn't dooing a very good job at selling them over in Britain. I also don't expect Polaris will bother to attend the meeting - Someone missed something there -
Even so...
More importantly, I have not received any notification for my recall's, recall. I have checked it all out, but I do want yet another sticker paced on my SlingShot's frame, to say they have looked. -

Depends on your dealer. My wife bought @Orangeman 's Sling about two weeks ago. The Friday before I flew down to pick it up I went by my dealer and asked them to order a red swingarm for her recall. The following Friday I dropped it off and they installed the new swingarm. Really great service!

It also depends on Polaris..... my recalls at my dealer only took a week or so from the time I called them (& took it to them so they can officially get it on record) until they called me that parts were in, however the break light warranty issue took over 2 weeks from the time I called them (& took it to them so they can officially get it on record) until they finally called me that the switches were in for them to fix it.

While we are looking for holes in the swingarm to plug... I was under my sling inspecting after installing the QA1 shocks and noticed that there are two brackets attached to the bottom of the swingarm to support the brake lines. Each brackets has a threaded hole and a positioning hole for the bracket locator tab. Took a piece of wire to probe the locator hole and of course, both go straight through to the SA cavity, one in the rear by the pivot shaft and one near the bearing end. Both are quite small, but this is a brand new SA and I'm not taking any chances. A little blue rtv in each hole is cheap piece of mind.

Thx, I'll check out those holes when I get mine back from dealer..it's been there 10 days awaiting bearings (after the swing arm was replaced)
-
Mine is headed in this after noon. Dealer says it will take two days to replace swing arm. Mostly due to drying / curing time of loc-tite they use.
Will be sure to ask about the rubber grommets and bearings in the new swing arm.
-
Your dealer needs a mechanic! Took mine in at 8:45 and rode out at 2:30. That's after the mandatory 3 hour cure time.

Say what???? Dropped mine off at 8:30 am, drove it home around 2:30 pm, and that was after they started working on it around 10:30 - 11:00. Should only be a few hours.

You need to throw the flag on that one. You need a new dealer.

Thanks all... I will verify the timeline with them. They indicated a much longer cure time.
-
Similar here, mine was inside for about 2.5 hours. No mention of cure time. But it's worth mentioning that the bearings went less than 500 miles later.
-
Polaris says 24 hour cure time. It was ok for me since we dropped it off on the way to Kansas City for the weekend and picked it up on the way back.
