Everyone should beware, my sling was stolen here in NJ on or about Thanksgiving. It was stolen right out of my driveway cover and all. There is no steering lock and it's my thought that they released the brake and rolled it up onto a truck and away it went. If I ever get another, I will chain it whenever I am not driving it, then lock it up in a garage.

Sorry to hear that!! I would hope the local Police Department is doing its part in taking this to task! I wish you the best in finding your Sling. And if, for some unfortunate reason, you end up with another Sling (courtesy of you Insurance company, of course) enjoy the ride!!!!
-
Dang it, thats crap!!! If someone really wants it, they will always get it..
-
I hate to hear that @RuneRider. I hope they can recover it unscathed or at least you are covered for complete replacement. In any case, thank you for reminding us to be diligent in our Sling watching and securing. Best of luck.

So sorry to hear this.
But how about posting a pix of it along with the VIN. We certainly have a lot of members that can certainly keep an eye out for it.
Especially if there's something unique about it.
Plus should someone buy from a private party, the VIN may help in indicating it's a stolen vehicle.
-
RuneRider, I'm so sorry!
I do hope you get it back (in the same shape they stole) or have insurance coverage.
But it's a great reminder to check out alarms. I keep saying I'll look but never do.
Terrible way to end the year. I wish you the best for 2017. Good luck. -
This is one reason I like my removable steering wheel!

Just reaffirms my thought for adding the security/alarm system Security Alarm System | Polaris Slingshot

Sorry to hear that. What really sucks is that being in NJ, you couldn't have even gotten a shot off if you'd caught them in the act.
Best of luck, hope the cops get a lead and track it down.

To be honest just like a motorcycle(lol) if someone wants to steal it there is not much you can do to prevent it, add a GPS tracker is about the best thing you can do and you have to be vigilant and catch them in the add for it to be useful since once they find it they will just toss it.
Those security alarms just help prevent kids from sitting on it or makes noise if someone kicks the tires etc not really theft deterrent.
BOT: Please add pictures/descriptions to the OP as well as a VIN# so we can all keep an eye and sorry for your lost!

My guess would be that it was stolen for parts.
It is too unique a vehicle to unload easily - but in parts it could be worth 2x -
Sorry about this bro....
Had a Honda 750 many years ago and used to put a big ass lock on the sprocket. Worked well until one day I forgot to take it off. Long story short makes me not forget to remove a big ass chain and lock I attach to the rear SS tire when I stay over night anywhere but home.
Hope you find it real pronto.... -
Damn brother this sucks!!! Very sorry to hear this... always someone wanting to take something that they did not work to earn.
-
@RuneRider Sorry to hear that
-
I've been using the Krytonite Real Time 2 gps tracker. It's the size of a pager and the SS has a perfect hiding spot for it. They've been taken over by Skypatrol, but I believe the annual service is about the same ($60). It also saves me 20% on insurance.
-
@RuneRider Sorry for your loose, hope you get it back in one piece. I use this below on my rear tire and a Viper Alarm System.... works for me...
-
@RuneRider. Sorry for your loss. I had a CVO Harley stolen when I lived in NJ and they found it a year later in Europe in perfect condition. Insurance paid me out and I moved on, but I would guess your sling went right to the port of Newark and left the country already.

when you have it on take a pic... would love to see it in action if you don't mind.

That really sucks. Always been my fear with my Harley but never the SS. I guess I know better now. Hope you get it back in one piece. I imagine in Jersey there are quite a few and it would be like finding a needle in a haystack.
I have one of these, new never opened, in original packaging. That's where it will stay until I sell it on eBay. They would work great in your driveway but honestly, I don't see much use elsewhere.
