As far as Octane is concerned...owners manual recommends 91 and those with a tune would probably want 93. The savings isn't much to step down. Example say you Sling for 8000 miles per year @ 27mpg. Average current cost of mid grade fuel is $2.82 vs $3.06 for premium. 24 cents savings. Given the mileage and mpg equates to 296 gallons used per year X 24 cents equals $71 or about 6 bucks per month. Compare this to the mods we do to our vehicles for minimal HP gains and premium gas looks like a bargain. The benefits may be arguable but so are the risks. May be worth it just for peace of mind.

If I can't afford the high octane, I stay home. Of course a 'little' bit of mod money goes a LONG way in the gas tank. Enjoy the ride.

Wish we could get 93 octane in California....my baby runs ugly without it now that she is boosted and winter has come!! Cold air+low octane= Pinging aka detonation in the chambers.....

- mytoy. Help we need a gas gauge you can read.
Her you go.

Never had that problem myself

I always run 93 non eth. when it is available. It is also available in Maggie Valley. The goverment lies to all of us about there being no difference in Octane levels and the eth. being better. The bad thing is probably 90% of the public believes them. Short story if you have a computer controlled car/truck with injectors you will have more power and better gas mileage and the engine will be more efficient.

I didn't look at the gauges. I just put the pedal down. Just ask @ VSHOT. John ask me if I knew how fast I was going? I said no . But I see MYTOY will be sending me a magnifying glass

Wait, that's banned in California too? Is there anything NOT banned there except kale and sanctuary cities?

Uhhhhhhhh nope....you pretty much got it covered!

Seriously! Agreed!

Oh, silly all-y'all. Oil and refined petroleum products don't cross the Rockies. So, refined pump gas from the Gulf and NJ don't get to California. That's why pump gas is more expensive west of the Rockies, and have more limited choices.
Move to East, you won't have that problem.

Hummm That AND frickin tax's and "summer formulation" !
How much is California gas tax per gallon?
Effective Wednesday,( Oct 26, 2017 ) the statewide excise tax on gasoline will jump by 12 cents per gallon to 41.7 cents. For diesel fuel, the excise tax will jump by 20 cents per gallon to 36 cents, and the sales tax will rise to 13 percent from 9 percent (plus local taxes).Oct 26, 2017 -

93 has no ethanol .....it eats rubber parts like o rings and gaskets ....
I’ve been running it in all my vehicles over 20 years.... with no motor problems related to gasoline.....

I actually didn't know that, but it makes sense.

Yep, in California 91 octane is just about the highest you will find. I won't guarantee you will never find higher, but I have never seen it. Also gas by default in California is 10% Ethanol. E10 is not mandated by law (yet) but from what I can find there are only 24 gas stations across the state that sell gas without ethanol

I did not know until today that the 2017 SLR only has 6 bars on the gas gauge and the 2015 has 9 bars (one for each gallon). I do not know about the 2016
