WHINING NOISE

Check this thread.
I have a whining noise in the right angle drive (rear end).
Personally, first thing I would try is cleaning the drive belt and sprocket.

Holly 2014 Moondogie ...............
Respectfully there are hundreds of posts about this and has probably been the single most complained about Slingshot idiosyncrasy since its introduction .....

TL DR: Yes they all whine some more than others but they all whine(at least all 15-16-17, i have never seen/heard an 18).

Can also be your wife and/or wallet but I'd check the threads above 1st.

Yes they all whine some and some more than others but none whines worse than mine when she whines that she has no wine!!! Oh, wait! You were speaking about the SS!
Well, yes they all whine some and some more than others but none whines worse than I whine when mine whines and I'm not speaking of my wife I am speaking of the SS. It don't wine, it howls like a wolf in heat! NO offense @WOLF !! But others have drove it and said that it doesn't wine as bad as theirs. Go figure? Make sure that the belt is clean and aligned properly and there is the proper amount of fluid in the right angle drive and forget it. You may need to get you a good set of ear muffs to keep from hearing her but some good tunes on the radio should drown out the wine of the angle drive. jes my .o2

I drive it every time with a set of foam earplugs in. Cheap and easy and I don't get pissed if I lose them, and it saves what little hearing I have left.

The whining usually starts right after the honeymoon...

I have never used ear plugs while riding a bike, even with no helmet
-
I use them to cut down on wind noise...
There are hearing tests on line....I’ve tried several and I can’t hear any tones....

I never used to either. And now I pay the price, between that and my time in the engineroom of several ships, and a lifetime of firearms. It hurts if I drive too long without the plugs, especially with the variable exhaust on loud and the music volume up.

I didn't know there was an IC shack on The Ark...

Yup as stated above. However, if you wish to avoid reading mile long old threads I would suggest, in order, wash belt and sprockets, check alignment, loosen belt, change angle drive gear oil out to some Redline 90/150 shock proof oil (I think that is the weight, old age is a bugger). Drive it hard for a couple of months and change the gear oil with the same brand and weight. Some here have used other brands but I think the preferred is the Redline.
Welcome

Like @KayTwo I've got years with firearms with no protection but instead of enginerooms, I spent several years playing drums behind open back guitar amps turned up to eleven - and I played right along with them. I guess I don't hear enough to be bothered on the Sling. In my defense, I also rode a bike without a helmet, stood up in the backseat of cars with no seatbelt, and played outside after dark. I guess that explains a few things.....

If the previous owner just did the swingarm recall, it may take a few hundred miles to settle down.
Cleaning the belt, and the sprocket as advised by @KayTwo is wise, and affordable.
You can also trek back to the dealer and complain. That may or may not be helpful.
The rear will always whine to some degree. Maybe you just need to get used to it.
Foam ear plugs work a treat for me for wind noise, but not rear end whine.
