And it had to happen on the roll hoop. I was using my Ryobi 1/4" impact like a dumbass.
I will have to take the hoop off now and use a reverse drill bit to drill it out.
Has anyone replaced all those t40 bolts with something much better with a good allen head on it. I'm going to buy a truckload of whatever someone comes up with that is better. Every bolt I remove has no thread left on it. And I don't strip them when they go in. They just are terrible..
They are terrible, we have a bunch of extras here if you still need it on Thursday. Those bolts have a 3mm shoulder on them though and I couldn't find an over the counter M6 bolt with that short of shoulder, atleast so far

Around here you have to buy the whole pack, maybe 50 or a 100 at Fastenal
agree about someone offering replacement hardware that matches and of better quality. Most off the shelf bolts are going to rust fast.
Doorman or McMasters might be your best option.

I only buy stainless steel, where it does not rust and I can polish to make it look pretty.
I am surprised that the vendors haven't come out with great quality replacements
The only problem with stainless is the weakness. I have some stainless bolts and they seem to have the same issue with the threads ruining.
I used stainless for over 20 years in industrial applications the only problem was using in or around some acids. That whole 20 years was a nut and bolt job repairing industrial control valves and actuators. The only time that I did not use was in high strength applications. For all uses of stainless you always use never seize. For one thing stainless galls easier that regular steel.

This is the second time I've seen this now. The first time, I was actually on hand. The person I was with, attributed the use of a ratchet to the mishap. Now that I see it a second time,I would think it is more attributed to inferior metal. Someone could make a cool million or two if a feasible and more superior product was offered. Just remember us little people, when you make it big!!!!!
Someone on this forum went out and replaced all the Torx fasteners with he head fasteners. Wish I could remember who.

I know that I also posted that I used polished allen head stainless screws/bolts on my self polished stainless heat shield. I do not remember where it was at though. If I were to change all of the other bolts that is what I would use to replace them.

The best selection was at a large Ace Hardware store where I bought most of mine but Home Depot and Lowes have a smaller selection. If you want to pay the quality price you could also order from ARP and some other bolt suppliers. I think you can even get polished from ARP if you do not want to polish your own but it will cost you.
