I just received an E-Mail from a lawyer group that has a law suit against Polaris on the steering locking up and causing a serious injury. The party bring the law suit had to have his arm amputated because of accident caused by the steering locking up and the Sling rolling over and crushing his arm. The law group states that there have been 600 complaints to Polaris about this problem. I am one of those complaints

what years are involved....
my 2015 steering rack was changed under warranty because of issues....the steering wheel would jerk slightly while turning.... -
This is something we all need to know .........

Way back in the beginning there was a "steering glitch" issue where when going down the highway the steering would get a centering dead spot, which would grow worse until the SlingShot was turned off and then restarted. It would be just fine after that until you would start feeling that lil dead spot developing all over again. The cure was a ECU re-tune and we have never felt it again. How many remember this?

I didn't have that issue but had lost of play in the wheel - they had to redesign the lock bolt where the 2 sections of steering shaft connected. I remember talking to one of the Polaris engineers at Maggie about it.

Never had an issue with the steering. I'm on the forum alot, way too much, but this is the first time I've seen this.

I believe that the issue in which I am referring was before this Forum was initiated?

Steering issues with the SlingShot is nothing new, do I dare bring up the topic that there was the steering rack recall on the SlingShot previous to the above? Though both of these issues were dealt with and resolved long ago...............................................

We had just dropped off of the mountain in north Georgia into a valley and there was a long sweeping left hand curve and the slingshot would not turn left. I was very lucky

You have to have the NASCAR software update to turn left...

Wow, yes you were! What year SlingShot? Any ideas of the cause?

According to the attorney that I talked to this has been on 2015 and 2016 Slings. Mine is a 2015 and I have no idea what happened to the steering other than it would not turn left when I needed it to.

[/quote]Do you remember how many miles you had on it? Mine has had all the recalls done. Don’t know of one on the steering.

If I remember correctly there has been 3 recalls on the steering. ECU reprogram - steering rack replacement - and something to do with the steering shaft/connector

Appears to be a Service Bulletin dated April/May of 2016, I do not recall ever seeing an actual notice but according to my maintenance notes the dealer did the reflash while our SlingShot was in for the headlight recall and other items done early July of 2016..

Added note, as a further example of Polaris not making official statements about Service Bulletins, when the single nut on the rear axle was replaced with the double nut system, I do not believe that was communicated to the general public either?
