2020 Grand Touring LE https://slingshot.polaris.com/en-us/slingshot-gt/
I guess this is the big announcement
-
-
This photo makes me laugh like...I don't see people rolling around in the Slingshot like it was a high end SUV or Sedan. lol
All in all though...it really looks good. -
$34k is a MASSIVE number!
-
One of the things that drew me to the Slingshot in the first place was its affordability - - - unlike most of the three wheeler's I had seem before it was actually something most people could afford and not something just for people with tons of discretionary toy money
looking at this I am concerned that they might be planning on moving to a higher price point
-
It's green!! Bad mojo
-
I love the look (desert tan interior would make it perfect!)
But autodrive version only absolutely kills it for me.
-
Lame...
-
So - would you rather get the base S and have $14,000 to spend on the mods of your choice or would you rather buy this as is?
maybe its just me, but I suspect that given $14,000 to do what I want I could end up with something much more to my liking that this
-
That's basically what I did on my 2019. Started with the base. Had the dealer put almost $10K of accessories on it. And got OTD for $10K less than this after TTL.
-
Just trying to imagine what DDM could do to a base for $14,000
-
Here's the press released version of the announcement

All in all though...it really looks good.I agree. A Slingshot is NOT the first vehicle that comes to mind when I'm going out in a suit! What were they thinking?
As far as the Base model, I assume Polaris is simplky trying to get rid of the GM engines they're contracted for. I can only hope they'll introduce a cheaper Base model using the detuned SL Prostar motor (and hopefully with the manual transmission at a cheaper price point than the SL) once they run out of the old GM motors. If I had to start with the SL at its new pricing point, I doubt I'd buy one, but the same Prostar motor from the SL with a manual transmission priced around$24K (or even less w/o a the Infotainment package) would at least give me a more affordable entry-point and then hopefully allow me to go aftermarket for performance accessories.
-
I guess some may like it. If I want to drive a cage I get in my car. Funny how they keep coming out with niche models but my dealers (3) cannot even get any models. Bring back the mini skirts! Make for some interesting entry and exits.

Another failure by Polaris.

The dealers are selling them ALL faster than they can get them.... I may not like a certain model but somebody does.....

I do not like wagon wheels on cars. To each his own!

i know this is true but i am curious as what states are really buying them off the lot. Here in Miami i have yet to see a new 2020 in the street although I see them on my local dealer all the time. Heck, i haven’t even seen many slings overall the last year. It’s like i technically see less and less over time.

All has to be blamed on COVID. Nothing is happening anywhere.

That GM motor was a selling point for me. I can go to Autozone and get an oil filter, spark plugs and probably a few other engine parts. It's been around; bugs worked out (engine at least).
I'm good though, I have my 2019 with that engine and manual transmission.
