Okay, now I will be the first to admit that I’m not always the sharpest knife in the drawer, but how the hell do you get the horizontal bolt out of the passenger seat? I can’t seem to get a socket onto it?

Talk about timing! I just did this yesterday after work! I used a 5/8 deep socket with 3/8" drive to start it, then used a 5/8" box end offset wrench to loosen it out a ways, until I could get it with a 5/8" open end wrench. At some point, it's finger tight.....
I know, it's 16mm. But that is only less than .005 bigger than a 5/8" and it will work great.
-
Hmmm...it’s a bitch, but let me try that
-
Indeed it is. Once I went this way, it did come out easier though.
Edit: doubt they changed, but mine is a 2016.5, not a 2017 like yours.

@Goats_Hogs is right @D.W.Slusher. I went out and bought a 16mm ratcheting wrench just for that bolt. I was amazed when I pulled my first seats out and found out that one bolt was different. Found out Saturday the the bleeder valve on my 17 SLR rear caliper is larger than the front also. All three on my wife's 15 were the same and the front valves were the same as hers. I have never seen a vehicle use two different sizes on the bleeders. Polaris comes up with some very odd things.
-
Yeah, doubt that makes a difference. The plastic runs over the tubing and makes an offset to the bolt that’s keeping a socket from going on
-
Mine was like this (except Craftsman, and old as the hills). The narrow socket area fit easily, where the socket was not a true straight alignment. I would have tried just using this, but I already had broken it loose with the extended socket by the time I went to get this.
-
Damnit...already went and got a socket....
-
Have you noticed that most wrench sets and socket sets do not have a 16mm. Maybe Polaris thought they would get some dealer service jobs by making that bolt that size.

OR a 19mm either
-
Yep...I just bought a set of deep wells and no freaking 16mm
-
Daryl, if you didn't notice my post, a 5/8" will work fine if you have one of those.
-
Just got back from grabbing a set of metric offset wrenches. I was able to get it loose with socket, but that’s about it.
-
i used a 3" extention with the swivel on the end. Worked slick for me
-
I got it out, but whoever engineered that stupid fucking design needs to kicked square in the balls repeatedly with a steel toe boot!

-
Just goes to show, you don't get a "head" by sticking your head in the rear...
Too graphic there @Tripod.

You guys are working way too hard. I didn't get frustrated at all.I just had @sideseatdriver do it.

Yeah.......

Sorry I'm late to the party but there is an easy way.
5/8 socket (1/4 inch drive)
1/4 to 3/8 adapter
3/8 ratchet
Plus spray some lubricant on the threads before you start.
