To bring back an older subject. We are now a full 3 years plus into sales of the Slingshot. It appears that the 2018 production numbers are into the 25,000 plus range. Looks like 2018 will push it past 30k.

It's been past 30K!
Oh you're not talking about price...
Nevermind...

Have they slowed down production a bit, then?
What month/year did they start production? Fall 2014, or earlier?
-
-
Not sure of production start date but I have S/N 0262 build date 9/14 which I purchased in November of that year. Still crazy after all these years.

EDIT PLEASE

On the lower end of the spectrum I have #0035 built 4/2014.

Hopefully quality doesn't suffer with the increased demand. There are a few flaws in my 2018 that should have been caught.
Some molded body panels I can see impressions under the paint like what ever was used to move the part around left a mark.
My Clock Spring in the steering column awaiting replacement. Bad from day 1.
Awaiting new painted plastic piece that goes behind head rest hoop. Looked like buffer took finish off at factory.
Awaiting new windsheild as it had a small scratch right in the line of sight on passenger side at delivery.
I love the new Slingshot but wish it was perfect at delivery. -
@KayTwo that part of the reason for posting. I have checked several 2018 models and if the VN sequence still holds true they were all in the 25k range. If anyone has more accurate numbers let's hear them. I was thinking we were well bast 30k myself.

@Ruptured Duck, this seems like a good pkace to try out my public math. Builds started around 4/14. I bought mine in May '16, which means it was built in Mar/Apr probably, and I'm 17k and change. So, 2 years, 17,000 Slings. Round numbers. Now, here we are, 2 years later (round numbers), and if they held the same pace of production, we should be at 34,000, right? But they're under 30k.How's my logic? Bueller?

Just a reminder that before the Slingshot was released, Polaris was hoping to sell 2000 Slingshots/year!
I wish I could remember where I first read that. -

I wish I could remember where I first read that.So they have exceeded their goal, but some dealers have quit selling them.

My first Slingshot bought 24 Feb 2015 #2426 2015 Model
My Second Slingshot bought 15 Sept 2015 #8145 2016 Model
And Polaris was hoping to sell 3000 the first year of production??????????? -
Part of the under 30k has to do with recalls and DNS status for several months .

I wish I could remember where I first read that.I also seem to remember a gross projected sales total of around $60,000,000 which would be closer to 2500-3000/year, depending on the model mix of Base vs SL, the SL being the most expensive version planned at that time.
