I wonder if this is considered an aftermarket mod and voids your extended warranty!!!!!!
Sorry. Just a little bitter

lol I second that, and if you want painted fibreglass I can get you 2.5 of them , don't know what you,d do with the half one though !
If it bolts on its removable. Welded on would be nonremoveable. My roof bolts to the frame and the roll bars behind the seats. But it's not considered a roll bar by the manufacturer. Liability issues disclaimer
Does it have a metal subframe or is it just a hunk of fiberglass
Having a little trouble with that analogy @Bigdog , many if not most of the structurally required permanent parts on the slingshot and many other vehicles are bolted on. Are the wheels not considered a permanently required part of the slingshot required to be bolted on in order to operate ? I think if you check it out , removable means, removable quickly and easily at the operators discretion by himself on a daily basis ,as it is only an option and not required for normal operation. A semi structural component like a RIGID roof that requires two persons to lift on and bolt in place, with tools an operator is not required to carry with him for the normal operation of the Slingshot, is hardly a removable option on a regular basis. Just my opinion .
@Ruptured Duck, let him know when one of your first models you sold gets rolled over the top of. Little flatter and scraped up is ok...it'll go with his side panels.
Too soon?
Right. That's an expensive upgrade!
Ive often heard people say, why are aftermarket parts so expensive? my response has always been, perhaps you should ask yourself , why are Polaris parts so expensive, compared to aftermarket parts ? Especially considering they have the upper hand in mass manufacturing and the associated cost reductions that come with higher volumes. The Slingshade is a prime example !
Polaris parts are expensive because they have a captive audience in us...
The removable nonremoveable issue is based on what the state regulations determine...many if not all roof manufactures are going to decline to call it a roll cage..that would require actual roll over tests and accepting legal liability.
Most motorcycles don't have roofs, roll cages and four wheels..
We just need to hope all these crazy add ons don't cause the governing bodies to change our classification into something we can't fit into without spending thousands of dollars to come into compliance.
Polaris parts are expensive because they have a captive audience in us....
I would argue that only people who are uninformed and looking to purchase are the captive audience.
Anyone who has a Sling knows of Slingmods, and their variety will never leave us beholden to Polaris for our after market needs.

Maybe @Bill Martin can get with @Ruptured Duck and negotiate a group buy on his tops.
