We Test Ride the Vanderhall Venice Three-Wheeler
Priced at just under $30K. Reportedly under 7 lbs per HP.Sat in one in Noel's shop in Florida. @BKL - you are tall like me IMO you will hate it. It has an automotive glass windshield and the top of it is right in your field of vision - can't look below and too tall to look over the top. The a/c sure was nice though!!
-
It would be way cheaper if you could just find a used AMC Pacer, and better looking too.

Bill, you sat in the "Laguna" ..... The "cheaper" Venice is nothing like the Laguna, kinda like comparing a Kia to a Genesis, and would still easily be $40K with the minimum stuff most would want but still includes the Chevy Sonic front wheel drive platform as its base .....

While still in the general price range, I don't consider this to be the same thing as the SS. Yes, it's GM powered, and yes it has three wheels. I don't mind the look of it either. The base model is rather plain, and the cost goes up quickly if you want to get one that has nicer options and look.
Two things I don't like about it, and they are both deal breakers for me. The GM 1.4 liter and front wheel drive. I'm sure FWD is better for traction, but like muscle cars and drifting, it's just not the same as being driven from the rear. Takes away from the fun factor for me. As for the GM 1.4 liter engine, it is not as reliable as the 2.4 we have. Yes, it makes a little more HP, but nothing you can't get with the 2.4 with a CAI and Header/exhaust with a custom tune. The 1.4 liters are having piston failure..... believed to be that it's running too lean causing the top of piston to melt. At least in the Buick they use it in, but that's a heavier vehicle, perhaps this wouldn't cause an issue.
The Vanderhall Venice is the only vehicle that's somewhat in the Slingshot category. IMHO, it's not really the same, due to it being front wheel drive. And that's not to mention that the most expensive (Stock from Factory) Slingshot is priced less than their entry level Venice.

Wouldn't this be easier to mod?

I liked the Laguna a lot. Not sure I could ever spend that kind of money for it but it was a great concept. Now the odd thing...my wife doesn't care much for the Slingshot...but she loves the Venice. Especially after finding out it was an automatic...sooooo...now she is looking to get one with in the next year.

Here is a few pics of the Laguna I took while at Cycle Springs visiting my buddy NoelI really was not that impressed with the vehicle itself but the fit and finish was WAY above that of a Slingshot
-
Now compare that .... to this ..... which BTW does not have a roof option ....

I know opinions are like a$$holes, everybody got one, but they just look way more "boxy" than sporty have to admit they are really well made though - gotta agree with you @FunCycle and as narrow as they are I don't think it would handle nearly as well as a Sling neither
BTW the one I saw was $52K as I remember

$52K? that's not bad. A heck of a lot cheaper than one red slingshot in coonass land that I know of

I wasn't impressed... not aggressive looking enough and most likely a dog in/out of turns.
*lol, look at me talking sh*t right now... must be that SC under my hood possessing me!
Besides... if I'm going to lay out that kinda cash, I'm getting this: Alfa Romeo Spider: Alfa Romeo 4C Spider Convertible - Alfa Romeo USA

Nice cars I like the Alfa is back in the US

Always enjoyed riding in Alfa's... My favorite car however is the Porsche Turbo, but after owning a Cayenne S (and all the issues it had), this Alfa may be my next ride when Elise heads to college.

Oh, here's the flipped version, and original....

My wife really wants a Panamera. That's what we were looking at the Chicago Autoshow when I saw the Slingshot for the first time. She will get one just might be a yr or two.

I'm a BIG fan of the Panamera's interior... reminds me of an airplane cockpit!
