I was fortunate enough to retire at 55 and never figured any government money to help support me due to fears of a governmental financial collapse losing all the money I paid in. I find it interesting that we are retired, living comfortably at the 55 - 65 year age. Are all these young liberals that are for all the huge government handouts really so ignorant they don’t know eventually the word “retirement” will be used about as much as the term “8 track cassette” is now??? Both will be in the history books under things from the far past !!

Well retiring at 57! I thought I did good retiring at 63 !
Many sacrifices along the way. My first new vehicle was in 2015 (F150). Then the slingshot in 2017. Bought nice houses along the way but always moderate & less house than I could afford. Never carried a credit card debt. Paid cards in full getting cash back in the process. House is paid off. Vehicles & toys all paid off. Used other jobs for one purpose, saving for retirement. Many years putting the max possible into retirement account.
No help from daddy or the federal government. Younger years I applied for a housing loan through the fed gov. but they turned me down. Got turned down from numerous credit cards in my younger days. Getting turned down is not unique! Playing the victim does no one any good. It lends to a false sense of security and a learned easy way out.
I suppose that's why I get into a huff because of all the hard work and sacrifice. Now for some reason the Dems feel it's correct to redistribute my money to those who haven't put into the very systems I worked so hard for.

Retired at 58 in 2005 with full SS and company retirement. (Bad Back) I have enjoyed every minute of it.

You kind of sound like me. My first job was at 14 and I worked my entire life . Washrd pots in the hospital, poured iron in a pipe factory and took whatever job I could to pay my way through life. Never had any credit card debt. The only debt my wife and I have had is the house we are now in for 43 years, which was paid off 15 years ago. Funny how everybody wants everything for nothing today .

Pumped gas and ran projectors in a theater and then the USN. I never believed in carrying a large credit/debt load. First credit card was around 1983 and only for out of town trips and only one card to be paid off every month.

Many of them don't know what the word retirement is since they never worked to be able to retire FROM

It is funny all the different life experiences that lead to your retirement years. For me it was luck - almost as good as hittin the lotto!! On 2 occasions in my life I leveraged everything I owned, begged, or could borrow on a huge deal. A thousand things could have gone wrong and I could have easily found out what never being able to retire and working till they picked up a shovel to bury me was all about. The planets all aligned and allowed me to leave all the aggravation from work at the office. Point is - by hook or crook we made it. Something I am afraid my grandkids may not be able to ever enjoy. This election is a crossroad for this country - I just hope we chose prosperity over socialism !!

I can't believe that we the people have let things go the way they have for so long that States like Virginia is trying to ban all guns and North Carolina wants to ban the pledge of alleagance in public meetings. And States that don't want to procecute criminals like California and New York. And the one thing I see in common with all these States is they are all run by Democrats. God Help us if Democrats get control of this Great Nation. Just my $.02 worth.

It's called the dumbing down of America and it's working out quite well for the misfits in DC.

Hello members. I see there is a poll on this thread. I have tried to find it and no luck. What page is it on? As you may have seen, I have created a Poll on a new thread to cover the upcoming Senate Trial. I would like to post a link to the poll I have created. I would like to invite all watchers of this thread to participate as jurors for the trial. I will just post the poll here, you will also have access to my thread. I ask you to visit with an open mind to view the trial and we post our opinions of the evidence presented each day. You can edit questions to the poll, just change number of votes box towards bottom of form. At this point it is 4.
Thank you.

Excluding Trump as he has never been a lifelong Politician, I was asked why I thought all the sex scandals involving political figures always involved DEMOCRATS?
I guess it's a simple as their party mascot. Who wants to go out and find some strange piece of ELEPHANT?

Democrat / Republican - - dont think it makes much difference - one way or the other they all seem to want to screw everyone. its the only thing they seem able to agree on in a bipartisan manner

Apparently this is very true but the dumbing down of the American voter has been very successful.

It isn't a dumbing down. Many are indifferent to politics and don't vote because they feel it doesn't make a difference who is in any office.

I was not talking about the non voters. They have nothing to do with voting for dumb and dumber, the lesser of two evils and the do nothing government, the voters do. The non voters know they are going to get screwed so don't vote. The voters know they are going to get screwed and vote anyway.

See there is another sandbox in the playground ...... thought we agreed not to do that in exchange for free range in this one but whatever the powers that be, let be, is great ...... although the temptation is there gonna keep my butt firmly planted here .....

Dumb down = complacency.
A low battery on their phone is more of a crisis......🤪
