Caught Slingshot thief

  • SUMMERFIELD MAN COMMITS OCCUPIED BURGLARY, FACES ADDITIONAL CHARGES
On Tuesday, June 6, 2017, Marion County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) Property Crimes detectives arrested Wayne Frazier (DOB: 01/30/1992) after he committed an occupied burglary in Summerfield early Tuesday morning. Frazier was also charged for his involvement in another burglary case that occurred several days prior.

The investigation revealed that at approximately 2:00 a.m., Tuesday morning, Frazier entered a residence located at the 17000th block of SE 108th Terrace Road in Summerfield while the victims were asleep inside. Frazier stole over $500.00 in miscellaneous items from the victims’ garage and stole a 3-wheel motorcycle valued at approximately $27,000.00. Frazier caused $2,550.00 in damages to the two other vehicles parked in the garage while stealing the motorcycle. The victims discovered the burglary when they awoke Tuesday morning. While MCSO patrol deputies were on scene conducting their investigation, a MCSO sergeant conducting a search of the area found the stolen motorcycle outside of a home located at 17012 SE 108th Terrace, approximately five minutes away from the victims’ residence. Deputies gained permission to enter the home (which belongs to an acquaintance of Frazier) and K9 Deputy Matthew Hooper and K9 Rambo found Frazier hiding under a mattress. During a post-Miranda interview, Frazier admitted to the crime and said he even used the restroom in the victims’ house before he stole their belongings. Additionally, Frazier is seen on surveillance video leaving the victims’ community in the early morning hours driving the stolen motorcycle.

On Monday, June 5, 2017, deputies developed probable cause for Frazier’s arrest in a separate burglary case. In that case, Frazier entered the victim’s unlocked shed located at the 16700th block of SE 103rd Avenue Road in Summerfield and stole approximately $1,200.00 of power tools. The next day, the victim received information from a friend that Frazier was texting her trying to sell her some power tools. The victim identified the tools as his through the pictures Frazier was sending to the witness. Deputies located Frazier on Monday but Frazier evaded arrest before eventually being apprehended. Furthermore, Frazier admitted to his involvement in this case during a post-Miranda interview on Tuesday.

Frazier is currently being charged with eight felony counts on two separate burglary cases: Burglary of an Occupied Dwelling, Burglary of an Unoccupied Conveyance, Burglary of an Unoccupied Structure, Grand Theft Auto, two counts of Grand Theft, Dealing in Stolen Property and Criminal Mischief.

Detectives believe that Frazier may also be responsible for other crimes in the Summerfield area. If you have any information on any incident that Frazier may have been involved in, please contact Detective Adrian Lewis at 352-438-5938.

  • If anything positive can come out of this… It was your slingshot which helped catch the thief before he could steal from someone else.
