• I've got many...

And I no nobody wants to hear this, but my dealer was kind of lost, and maybe he was just talking, but said that Polaris might want to repair all unsold stock first, then customer rides... Similar to a rzr recall not too long ago...?

And then said, we'll call you when we know more. Can't make an appointment, can't order parts, but we've got you in the system. They still needed the training...

  • I have all the recalls and just talked to my Dealer. He said they have already gotten dozens of calls today (they were closed yesterday). They are coordinating with their warranty specialist to get all the parts ordered and set up recall service work.

I will be driving it until it blows up because I have yet to be notified by Polaris of any issues.

  • Try to remember that they are actively trying to get everything taken care of. Im sure your dealer will get up to speed today. They have to take an online test (to show that they understand what parts are affected and how to fix the issues correctly). As soon as they pass these test they can order the repair parts for each affected Slingshot.

  • For the All Out Cycles Bunch…

I just got off the phone with Dave. It was a very informative conversation. As with all the other Dealerships, they too were just informed of this Recall. Through meetings and calls to and from Polaris, this is what they have so far:
First, and foremost, this is a “Stop Sale” voluntary Recall. Not to be confused with a “Stop Ride” or “Cease Operation” Recall. Polaris has stated operation of the Slingshot can continue, with an immediate halt to future sales at this point. That being said and documented, I would surmise Polaris has determined our personal safety is not at risk.

As far as a timeframe for Recall work to begin, Dave stated that Polaris is formulating a parts plan that should hit the street by the end of November. Now, this is not saying that the work will begin at that time. It is simply stating that a plan for replacement parts will be ready for implementation. Once the plan is implemented, parts will go out to the various Dealerships. Distribution of parts was not discussed on this call. But you can probably rest assured that the more successful Dealerships will be at the top of the distribution list.

For those who had Slings with “Factory-Painted” Swing Arms: It is the intention of Polaris that those individuals receive that same Factory-Painted Swing Arm. I don’t know if there is a plan in place for the ones who had custom paint jobs. I would venture to say Polaris would be well within their rights to take the hard stance of “When the unit was purchased, what color was the Swing Arm?” A bitter pill to swallow, but that could be the outcome. Along those same lines, a person could also expect the Factory- Painted Swing Arms may take longer than the raw Swing Arms. This is not written in stone, though. All options and contingencies are being looked at and weighed.

It would appear Polaris is taking a proactive response to this issue. I, for one, am impressed with the information that was provided by my local Dealership. Obviously, Polaris is making sure to keep all those concerned (and those folks selling their products) informed, engaged, and safe.
That is all I have for now. If any of you want me to touch base with All Out Cycles for any reason, just let me know. That’s what this forum is all about.

  • Polaris seems to taking the right approach here and proactively getting these replaced. While recalls and service bulletins are a PITA I would rather they do the right thing and fix it. I cannot be the only one that will begin riding next season with no more factory warranty attached. I have decided not to extend it even though there are existing and ongoing known issues with the machine. These factory attempts at least help out with that situation and short of any permanent fixes I plan on looking for aftermarket solutions if and when that time comes and my SS requires them. The SS is still one of the most fun toys created on the planet and one that I will be hanging onto for some time to come.

I knew more about the recall than my local dealer... I am assuming that if it shows up on the Polaris website under my VIN that all of them will need to be done. Should be fun...

Actively looking for another sling...It is time...

  • I got a call from our servicing dealer. You may remember that are purchasing dealer it was such a schmuck that we had to go elsewhere to get any satisfaction. That's great customer service having the servicing dealer call me to let me know. I was waiting on some other parts and the unfortunate thing is if I take it in he has to keep it even though he doesn't have the parts for this recall. So I'm not taking you then probably until after winter passes through Wisconsin likely sometime in April. My servicing dealer rocks and we'll paint the swing arm for us in advance of the install. I can't say enough how awesome Nielsen Enterprises and Shawn are.

@EjFord I told Shawn to get your recall done first if you were going to be driving into November and December so make sure you get that fast red one in and all gussied up

  • Just got off the phone with my dealer. He is telling me that his service techs are in process of going through Polaris training on servicing these recalls and he cannot even order the parts until they pass the Polaris testing. He has no clue of part availability or how long it will take to perform the repairs. I just hope I can get it in before the snow flies!

4 Wheels move the body, 3 Wheels move the soul!

  • So why doesn't someone make / offer a tubular version of the swing arm?

Could be making a killing if Polaris plans to replace all or a majority of the cast ones.

I know it is a critical item and liability issues / concerns probably require a vendor to proceed with caution.
