Does this forum have a classified section, can't seem to see it? I have a Slingthing Custom trailer I would like to sell, I live in Boston area.

    Thanks

Graduated high school in 1971, the year they abolished the 4 year college deferment. The war was being wound down, they weren't calling many people from the lottery. Luckily my number was over 200, and I was not called. In those days, the National Guards remained mostly stateside, so I probably would have weasled my way into the MA guard. It totally amazes me how people that avoided that war are now considered unpatriotic (which included Trump), which is complete revisionist history. Anybody, and I mean everybody I knew, and I knew hundreds, did whatever they could to avoid fighting in that war. For sure there were volunteers, I just didn't know them. In those days, you were even unpopular for NOT trying your best to avoid service. No returning veteran EVER heard a "thank you for your service" greeting. You took your uniform off at the airport and didn't talk about your experience. The most unappreciated draftees in American history. I agree with Ed, they deserve more.

Had my second Pfizer shot 4 days ago. Some mild fatigue the following day, but no biggy. Now I can fly down to Boca Raton and visit my 91 year old vaccinated mother with a clear conscience. (still need to wear masks, just don't have to worry about ventilators.) I actually think it's the younger healthier people that will have more after effects from the shot, as their healthy immune systems will kick in more strongly. Just my take.

Also, with some hesitation. I submit that anyone can get the shot, regardless of status. Just make the appointment, and check whatever you want on the computer. Nobody in these CVS's, etc. will ever ask, nor would there ever be time, to ask for any documentation. You will get the shot. Nobody has "shot shamed" me yet. But truth be told, I am over 65.

And I was 20 in June of 74, had already voted in my first presidential election (72) and had been lucky to get #214 in the 1974 draft lottery

I graduated High School in 1971, the year they pretty much eliminated the college deferment. Got my lottery number, but thankfully they started pulling troops out around then.

College deferments were limited in 1971, but by that time the military was calling up fewer conscripts each year. Nixon ended all draft calls in 1972, and in 1973 the draft was abolished in favour of an all-volunteer military.

It's not often I agree with Wolf, but I certainly do with the God thing. This country was founded on a separation, that's one reason they had to leave England! Our national motto was not "In god we trust" when founded, but "e pluribus unum" (one country from many states.) It was changed in response to the "Communist" threat. "Under God" was NEVER in the pledge of allegiance (look it up!), but once again thrown in there during the fifties in response to the "Communist" threat. Pray as you wish in churches and temples and mosques, but keep public education secular. It's the right thing.

got my vote by mail primary ballot yesterday - - not one single candidate on it I have even heard of - I hate the system here in Ca where you only get to vote for people in the party you are registered as - As much as I agree with the Libertarian platform the people the party runs are a joke

Just got done re-registering - this time as a Republican

As a side note - - being in California my vote probably won't count anyway - - damn State is so far gone down the socialist path the few conservatives we have might as well stay home on election day ;(

Mass. similar to CA in that in a national election, my vote is worthless, state too far gone to the left (think Pocahontas!)

(And we had the rino Romney as governor).

However, we can choose any primary to vote, I usually choose the democratic ballot and vote against the candidate I most despise.

There are 3 factors that made the SS something exclusive, the need for a motorcycle endorsement, discretionary income, and the standard shift (not many people under 50 have experience with standards). I always felt special. On a purely selfish note, some of this exclusivity will be gone with the introduction of an automatic. A lot more Jane or Joe Blows will be driving around, with sometimes inferior driving skills. I ain't a happy camper, but am happy for those few that really require an auto version for any special needs.

An old tip you might already be aware of, but one can just remove the storage compartment door, it snaps right out. You do pick up a little more room for the seatback, not a lot. I have explored a number of possible solutions to pick up more legroom, nothing as of yet that is cost effective and practical. BTW, the 8" they extended for Shaq in that tv series was show only, it would do little for a man of his height, it wouldn't even be enough for me and I'm only 6'3". I heard they would be extending another one for him, don't know if it was ever done. Until a solution is found, the SS for me is for short trips only. (I have a trailer).

I know most want comfortable seats. I'm willing to sacrifice comfort for a little more legroom. If I could sit in the storage compartment, I would :-) I don't see Polaris changing the design to help above average height people. I know you guys & gals are experts at this stuff! Thanks,

Check out Sam Owens 44 on youtube. He has a video on the LED headlight upgrade install kit that details exactly how this wire is removed. Although not technically difficult, I could never have done it without this video.

Actually, it took about 6 years for the market to reach its previously held value. As long as you're healthy, it can be ridden out w/o any panic selling.

Moving the rails would have little to no benefit, as the seat back cannot tilt any farther back. If all you need is 1/4", one can remove the storage door cover (which I have done) easily, and that helps a small amount. PRP seats, having a thinner width back, would help some also. With a 36" inseam, believe me I have explored many options for more legroom. About the only solution (albeit a very expensive one) is to have the frame extended, about a $10,000 job. The SS is not made for taller drivers.
