What do I carry? Everything but the kitchen sink,...I tried once but I had to hire a plumber
What do you carry

I was 19 when three men chased; then attacked me in lower Manhattan. I was beaten unconscious while they tore off my dress, fractured my ribs, and cracked my skull by my right eye (will leave out the rest as you get the idea).
Fast forward 20+ years... I've learned self-defense, weight trained, and have been carrying a gun ever since ~> IMHO: This "could have" gone down completely differently if I were armed that day. Not saying it would have... but I truly stood no chance against them (a gun levels that particular playing field).
Somehow, in my browsing the forum, I completely missed this post. I am truly sorry this happened to you, or anyone for that matter! I carry at all times, but I will say this.... even if I weren't and there were 3 of them, I'd have done my very best to stop them at all cost. I can't turn my back to this, even if the odds are overwhelming. Makes it much easier to have that level playing field by being armed at all times....

I'm going to the South Carolina Gun School based off of a recommendation from a local CCW instructor. Already have my Utah, just need this one to update everything.
I have my Utah also, and Indiana Lifetime. But SC doesn't recognize either of them. I would travel there more often if they would. I'm still hoping for a national permit. Yes, we have the 2nd amendment, but I'd sit thru yet another class and pay for a license to be able to legally carry about anywhere in the country without concern of breaking some law. I'm not the one that anyone needs to be worried about, unless they are there to inflict harm in some way.

Reciprocity laws suck - we need congress to pass universal reciprocity (like drivers licenses)... Bills have been introduced but haven't passed yet. Support the NRA!!! (Benefactor Life Member here)

I can carry in all 50 states,.. plus a couple other countries, and fly if the pilot allows

South Carolina getting closer to open carry, Thank You

I have been watching closely.

yeah, just had my CWP class. The instructor was less than thrilled at the idea. Coming from VA, and used to OC, I hope it does pass. I like open carrying. One thing you are going to have to be careful about for a while though, is having the cops called on you for "brandishing".

We have had open carry for years here in Louisiana - hardly ever see anybody with open carry except LEO. Guess once the newness wears off people carrying for protection don't want to advertise they packin - as @sideseatdriver says draws too much attention from the anti gun nuts

Where's a good place to link up to for updates? Good websites or mailing lists...?

I dunno, Bill....I've open carried off and on for like 8 years or so, and most of the time, the metrics for my determination are more about my mood and the clothes I'm wearing rather than whether anyone will see or not. People just don't notice. I've had entire conversations with people, with a .45 sitting plainly on my belt, and they've not noticed it. Just not a factor 99% of the time. Of course, that 1% can be a real doozy....

I do not know, I just went looking under Open carry for S.C.

I've been looking at this one. I am a 1911 fan (bordering fanatic even), and this one keeps drawing me back. I have a full size Kimber, which is a really nice shooter, but this would be for carry. I've never owned a Sig Sauer, opinions? This is the Nightmare personal carry model. 8+1 and will also accept the standard 7 mag, which I have many of.
-
@Goats_Hogs If your willing to foot a slightly larger price tag... The CQB Compact is (IMHO), the best single-stack 1911 for carrying that I've ever fired!
*when chambered in .45 ACP ~> I shot quarter clusters at 50 feet!

I own and carry a SIG p938. Love it.

Now I want that gun, thanks @Goats_Hogs. Sigs are phenomenal, I have three (9,40,45) never a failure or hiccup, they shoot anything I put in them. They are not picky on ammo. They shoot as true as I do any given day. My wife loves her Sig also.
I have never tried their 1911, but would expect the same crisp trigger and quality build.
