July-ish is approaching...
Think some of you are gonna be surprised by the color offerings for 2019.
Not the end of this thread... but all I could say.
Hmmm... Purple?

Glad to see the body styling is the same....I’m not crazy about them wanting to switch engines...
I heard some scuttlebutt at a local place where polaris's employees hang out that the new engine(1.9L T) is debuting with the 2019 and one other rumor that makes me really feel concerned(eve about the future SS, they are making it smaller.....
The SS has a perfect size because unlike the vanderhall it fits the typical "American" which lets be honest is the majority of the current market, if it were to become popular oversees then I would understand an european version being smaller(narrower and shorter) but the sales overseas are slim to none.
If the engine/drive-train proves to be lighter, then both this, and making the SlingShot smaller, makes perfect sense when considering that the SlingShot is currently right up against it's weight restraint. If buyers keep demanding new accessories then something will need to give but a possible good thing if this does indeed happen is that it may help older SlingShots maintain their value better?

What are these weight restraints?
It has been explained that the Slingshot must remain under 1750 pounds to maintain it's motorcycle designation.................

start at about post 40 at Motorcycle classification weight
The whole weight debate has been all conjecture and hearsay which is now dated since in most places the slingshot is classified as an autocycle.
Anyways anyone who says that a smaller(narrower) slingshot is a good thing has never been on a vanderhall, is 5'4" or shorter and 120 pounds or less.
@Ross I agree, but I it looks like the VIN numbers are simply the specs for the individual vehicles and not government weight allowances. Don’t want to restart an old weight argument and I could be wrong but I didn’t think anyone had found any motorcycle max weight specs/allowances. I have searched the USDOT site and haven’t been able to find any limits on motorcycle size or weights. There are lots of specs and regs showing how to calculate a vehicles limits based on its engineering specs but I can’t find anything to specify what would be the maximum weight for a motorcycle. The Gunbus was supposed to be a street legal motorcycle in Germany and it weighed 1433 lbs on two wheels.
Wellllll if that’s true I believe we will allow the NEW little pups to still hang out with the big dogs !

Not a motorcycle! It's an autocycle (depending on where you live ).
In Oregon a three wheeled vehicle like the SlingShot must first meet the definition of a motorcycle, and then if it further qualifies, as an autocycle. I have a sneaking suspicion that this is the way it is with most other states also?
Bill
Still no autocycle classification in AR that I know of.

You are correct sir, still classifies as a motorcycle.
Sounds like they are trying to go after the other three wheel riders...maybe by making it more like an actual motorcycle...
If they make the motor smaller we will all need turbos...
2020...the seats will be stacked front to back..like a real motorcycle...
If it ain’t broke....don’t fix it...
Remember me talking about resale value.....well ours might just be going up....if the new models tank...

but standard drivers license to operate?
they already have 2020 in works. , the Sling is the only line that’s a big seller for Polaris, So there pumping them out like Apple!
Your 18’s are already Obsolete & the 15’-16’s! Are probably worth 1/2....

Freedom to ride in arkansas as state reclassifies license requirements for three-wheeled vehicle | Polaris Slingshot
Yep @Ross, no motorcycle license required but still no autocycle classification. And we don’t have to wear helmets anyway when over 18 so not really sure what that classification would change.
