I’m curious....do you think the air bags were a good investment? How long did they last?
Clicking noise coming from the front, both sides, getting louder

studiopeg like DER said with air ride you need to shim the sway bar at the mounts. Without it sway bar will rub and eventually rub a hole in your air bag/s. My plate is 1/2" thick, should be at least 1/4", doesn't take much.
I'd send ya a pic but for whatever reason my new phone won't send it to my computer. I'll send it to DER maybe he can post it.
Hope this helps studiopeg

I don't know how long the air bags will last, nor the compressor.
The only reason my air ride blew was because someone who worked under my hood wanted to tidy up their wires along with all the other wiring mess, and when bundling all the wires they zip tied it to the tube frame right above the exhaust. I should have seen that but never did.
So the exhaust heat blew a hole in the air line. Thankfully I had just pulled into a parking lot when it went.
Anyone in here who knows me knows the terrible luck I have had with mods.

only if it’s loose.
Jack it up and see if anything is loose or makes the noise when you turn the wheel or spin the wheels
also, check the coil overs if they are stock, Dave@DDMWorks found this on a rear coil overWokka bought a jack and stands last night. Gonna figure them out today and give this a try. last night with the hood open and standing next to the right wheel, I pushed in hard with my leg on the wheel and the click I believe was in the wheel itself. Ball joint? CV joint? Once I get it up on a stand I'll be better able to see what I can find.

We nailed down today that the clicking noise is coming from the wheels, all three, but mostly in the front. All bolts have paint lines and have not moved. Dealership says one thing at a time... let's get the sway bar and supports replaced, then go from there.
The videos I have watched today on bad ball joints don't make a clicking sound but more of a grinding. Will be interesting once we find out what this is. In the mean time, I'm not driving it.

airbag mounts?

airbag mounts?
it is the common denominator. I squirted a little WD40 on one side’s bolts, did nothing. Tested it just now on all 3 air ride settings, no difference.
If I wait an hour, I can push the wheel inwards and hear it, and it’s definitely in the wheel. But if I push it again, nothing. Have to wait for some time to go by... as if something is freezing up? But that too makes no sense since turning left and right always does it.
It’s a mystery.

Yep, some of those videos are pretty bad case ball joint wear.
Just info of my experience with a 2016 SL, Bilstein shocks, no air bags, stock rims...
We were at the event in Maggie Valley.
After whipping it through the Dragon, Rattler, and several other roads... don't know if it became progressively worse, or I just focused more to it.
Had three mechanics from the Iron Horses look at it and they believed it to be the steering gear box. Not finding any serious problems, park it type, we drove it home.
At home, isolated the noise with my ear to a very long handled screwdriver. The click became a thump in that manner.
Mine didn't clunk, bang, thump... mine clicked. Steering the wheels on ground or lifted in air. With the Slingshot in the air, using a pry bar under the tire lifting upward, I found movement up/down at the ball joint between the upper A arm and upper spindle arm. Replaced both upper A arms and right lower.

Helps a lot! Thanks, I just have to figure out where to get the metal for a shim. maybe I can find something at Home Depot

How do you always figure these things out?

Wasn't addressing the click at the rear...
Which you so stupidly pointed out.
Guess you deduced no ball joints on the rear cause of a lack of upper and lower A arms on stock machines.

In the pics I see a grease fitting. Is this stock on newer models?

DDMWorks swaybar mounts.
-
So modified from stock....
-
buy the sway bar stops too.
Our sway bars come with the locks already welded to the sway bars, no need for additional parts
-
sway bar and parts are all here now. Going to attempt to replace it today myself. Had some shims made too. Once I’m finished will give it a ride and see if the loud clicking is still there.

I had them shims made at 1/2” thick, seems too thick I cannot get it on, it jams on whatever that metal piece behind it is.
