FWIW A pc car racing sim (project cars 2) showcasing the KTM Xbow couldn't simulate it past 135mph down a straightaway. That bad boy is priced at $100k with a 300hp turbo-charged motor.

Dave@DDMWorks you are like a brother but when you say someone has been191mph..... Someone's nose was growing when they told you that....
I belive noone that says they have been over 145mph. Not without seeing a time sheet...
And the only way I would belive a speed above 150 on the open road would be to see a video with them showing a run up to 100mph and the speedometer and the GPS readout matching. Then without stopping the recording make the top speed run.
I know that we are talking about winding it up over several miles. And I understand that what we do is within a 1/2 mile area... I agree that with enough space we might get to 165 or 170 if we had a tail wind and it was slightly downhill. But 191mph in a slingshot!!!! Nope.... It didnt happen without really good video documenting it.
The problem that I am starting to see with this is that someone is going to try to go beat something like this on public roads and hurt themselves or someone else also, which is no good. Although the wind tunnel numbers do point out that a Slingshot with certain modifications could achieve that speed with horsepower that has been built already, it is just barely, I agree that at this point unless we get these numbers from a drag strip or land speed run, posting them is also probably not the safest thing to do. The 1 mile event though is going to really start telling the tale of what the terminal velocity of Slingshots are going to be, once we have some more data on 1/2 mile and 1 mile we can start extrapolating more estimates for power and aero needed to go faster.

I STILL THINK SOMEONE IS TELLING A SMALL FIB.

Mathematically, assuming a top rpm limit of 6250 rpm and that 2500 rpm = 70 mph (+/-) the Slingshot engine should top out at around 175 mph, maybe a little faster if the engine will rev higher, but air resistance will almost certainly result in a slower top speed. More HP will certainly help, but the highest the engine can rev will also be a determining factor. I got the 2500 rpm = 70+/- mph observing my tach at just under an indicated 70 mph.
-
Plus the obvious question is what are they using for a controller since the stock Polaris ecu has a governor preset at 160 MPH? Wishful thinking on their part, but unless they have a Haltec or something else, 160 is all in no matter what. Even Bob hasn't accessed that part of the computer to modify the setting that i know of

With a 28" tire diameter and 7000 RPM rev limiter, here are the top speeds in each gear -
1st 3.75 42.02513 mph 2nd 2.26 69.73196 mph 3rd 1.51 104.367 mph 4th 1 157.5942 mph 5th 0.73 215.8825 mph Reverse 3.67 42.94121 mph -
At 215.8825 mph you probably can expect the windshield to come off and wrap around your face.

Here is for a stock SL - 225/45/18 rear tire and 6500 RPM redline

What windshield?

But what if it has green caps on all 3 valves?

Wokka's did 2158825 in Maggie valley. Oh wait, that was his RPM's not MPH....
-
low blow, just a low blow...

Nothing like kicking a man when he is down and out!
Sorry wokka there is no cure for sling withdraws
And to make matter worse for him I am parked behind him at DDM so he aint going anywhere soon.
-
LOL, our eta is still the end of the month, sigh
Dave sends teaser pics every now and then, it's what keeps me going

Actually 215.8825 is really close to the boost pressure we saw with the pressure still climbing, VERY rapidly

Even worse than that is I need both of you gone so I can get the Cams installed
