So I see most people swear by the Nitto 555 g2. But I wonder if the bias is because we're coming from Kenda's and the Nitto seems to be the cheapest decent option.
I've got the SLR rims with the 305/30/20 rear tire. I see Nitto 555 g2 or Toyo Proxies T1R as the next logical step up. But take budget out of the decision making process...and I was looking for street use with decent wet traction for 3 season use...and only (stay with me now) symmetrical; are the 400-600 dollar tires I see on Tire Rack and Discount Tire really worth double (or more!) the cost?

I put a 315/35/20 Nitto on my SLR rim. $333 complete. Much better than the Kenda but still easy to spin and I haven't even added my SC yet. I think I will be putting a BFG Sport Comp 2 on my wife's SS unless I can find something better.

The 600 mile tire will generally wear out just as quick as the 200 one. What you give up to get better traction will usually shorten the life of the tire. Your decision should be on how you intend to drive. I get between 6 and 8,000 on a rear tire.

I would find something better, I can lite it up all the way into fourth gear. And anytime in a turn on demand. NA BFG Comp-2 summer

What is the width of the stock slr rim?

SLR rim width is 11.5.
Spec card shows 11 inch wide...
For 3-season or year-round use, consider the Nitto Motivo (Motivo All-Season Ultra High Performance Tire). The Motivo is an AS UHP tire with a 60,000 mile warranty (probably 30,000 on the Slingshot since the rear tire isn't rotated, but the fronts could be for the 60,000 mile warranty). It has a 560 A A rating compared to the 320 AA A rating for the 555 G2 and has higher ratings for wet traction, comfort and quietness, with the 555 G2 only a little better for dry traction. Costs/sizes are similar for the two tires. Since the Motivo is technically an asymmetric tire, some folks may not like it on the rear. I'm getting ready to put Motivos on the front and a 315/35 555 G2 on the rear. Once I see how the two tires wear, I may go with the Motivo on the rear when I have to replace the 555 G2.
For all you tyre gurus I wrote this when i was a kid. READ IT!
@Bruce Wayne I ran the toyo proxie TR1 on my 20x12. 345/25/20. Soon to be on the back of @KayTwo bike. I had great grip in dry and wet, but like all have said. The wider the rear the greater the chance for a little give.
If I was able to keep my 20x12 I was gonna drop to a 315

First off you are still a kid!
second I will need an encyclopedia and dictionary to read all that
Everyone's talking about tire pressure at 26, 28 I've even seen 32. I checked mine today and here is the best results. Yup right at 225 for me.

I think you need to buy a digital gauge. I am running 28 PSI in the BFG Comp-2 and still wearing the center out. A little over 10,000 miles and down to the wear bars in the center 3/32 more thread on the out sides. If you want to know exactly I will go measure with the digital tread depth indicator

That is the tire pressure of a 319 plane when it lands. I run 26 and am happy so far. I didn't come up with that pressure on my own a few people suggested it here and it works like a charm.

26 PSI is where I am at now and it will wear level

I am always smiling, I love this place and just about all of the people on here
Cool...
Well the G-force Comp 2 is not available in 305 or 295.
I am thinking about going with the Nitto Motivio in a 295/30/20.
What do you all think of this as a rear tire.
