Morning all,
So I got up this morning and went to visit my local dealer about a couple issues that appeared after they did all the recalls. Mainly they left my steering wheel off center, but in addition to that, I've ended up with about 1/2" play in the wheel. I remember some of you having a similar issue before any of this recall nonesense, but I never did until they put that new pinch bolt that the recall calls for. My steering used to be rock solid with zero play. This is annoying the shit outta me. Tech says that all the ones they're doing have that same issue. They have 2 new SLRs in the showroom. One has the issue the other is rock Solid like mine used to be. I'm sitting here waiting for it while he tries to figure something out on it, but just wondering if any of you have experienced the same.
Steering wheel play AFTER the recall

Mine is completely fixed...I had some play in the steering wheel, now it's completely gone.
-
My service dealer talked about steering wheel play and asked me about it before they started the recall work...

I believe it was a new bolt or steering pin. Whatever it was, it was part of the recall and it did a great job of taking the problem.
-
Hmm. I had no issue until they put the new collar and pinch bolt.
-
Besides the new bolt in the steering shaft there was a re-flash for steering
I had both versions of the pinch bolt and it solved my problem, I did get a the ecu flashed when I had it aligned -

The only problem I have is my annoying as hell wine is back. I had 5000 miles on mine and rear was quiet. Until I hit about 40 it wines. I guess I will let it break in for a couple hundred miles and see what happens. Other other than that I had all the decals done and it seems to be good. But this weekend is the first real long time I had it out. Been to cold to ride long.

Mine started whining as well, and I noticed that the drive belt was too tight. Had them loosen it. Seems to be back to normal.
-
Thats what I was thinking it could be. I'm going to put some miles on it and see what happens.
-
no play, but had to pull my steering wheel and hub to get it back to center, threw it off by several splines after the recall. Also, now my ESP light is constantly on, have to take it back in to have that look at.
-
Steering is as tight as twin fiddles in a Bob Wills band.
-
This kind of crap scares me! My machine is rock solid right now and I am contemplating not even having the recalls done!!

Took mine back in Thursday. Check engine light and traction control light started coming on in hard turns. Had to shut off and restart 3 times. They reflashed everything and it seemed ok Friday. Today my wife and I made a run to Eureka Springs. Same issue after hitting some hard turns except it seemed like the fuel would cut off. Finally figured out when I went into hard right turns electronics would shut off and then come back on after a second. Speedo would drop to zero then everything would come back on. Reset system 4 times and everything seemed ok. My wife was driving and went into a hard right turn and electronics shut off again for a second. Only on right turns. Kept doing it the rest of the way until we got to easy turns and straights. Going back to dealer Tuesday!!! Can't tomorrow because it will be raining.

Man... Feel like disliking that @dangerdarrell...

I got mine back Wed. All recalls done, including replacing the driver's side panel from spider cracks from the inside (2016.5, known issue) Brakes are tight and firm now, steering has zero play, everything works like it should. I did pay to have full alignment after, and I think that may have been the best "mod" I've done yet. Mine tracks perfectly, goes around corners even better than before (didn't think that was possible). I put 150 miles on it this weekend, and am very pleased to say the least.
Sorry about your steering issue. Hoping they find a fix for it quickly.

Just talked to dealer. They believe it is the speed sensor causing the issue and have ordered a new one. Sure hope that is the issue. Would hate to lose power like this when on the Tail.

There was a thread a while back, or comments in a thread, about right turns causing the same problem with other folks. Speed sensor sounds about right, but I can't swear to it. Anyone else remember? @Tripod? @rabtech?

Slightly different symptoms but involved right turns:
