I have the knock sensor engine light, that doesn't auto reset itself after the repair is made. The closest dealer is too far to drive in 100 degree weather and pay them the min hr $134 of labor. Has someone finally made a consumer tool or a cheap knock off? If not can any Polaris (NON SLINGSHOT) dealership reset it or is the tool specific to the Slingshot. This is seriously such a joke.
Check engine reset without Digital Wrench?

Sorry. That is one of those persistent codes that only be cleared with Polaris’ proprietary Digital Wrench software. Yep, it sucks…

Thank you, that is a bummer. Any issue driving with the code if the sensor is good and gas is premium?

Should be okay. But, routinely check for any new codes that may pop up. Since light is on permanently, you won’t be aware of a new code unless you check.

Don't you have to send the 'part' to Bob?

IIRC, I think I read somewhere that the software basically locks itself to your ECU and once used on one vehicle, won't work on other vehicles.

The scan software is a cable and software that you load on a laptop and it allows you to scan and clear codes on the Slingshot, it does not flash the ECM with any tune and does not require you to send the ECM into Bob.

Dave thanks for that info...

Do you know, does it lock to your ECM or is it able to be used on other slingshots as well?

I have the software and harness that came with it and it works at clearing the codes and reading your ECU, not sure about it working on anyone elses because havent needed to try.......

I have used the version we have on multiple Slingshots, I would just give Bob a call to confirm it is not locked though to make sure.

Good idea. I had mentioned above that I thought I had read about software locking itself to a specific ECU, but I may have gotten confused about which software did that.

I have a BMW motorcycle and, like Polaris, they have an OBD plug but use proprietary software. I bought a reader & software from Hexcode (out of New Zealand) that has broken BMW’s code so I can read & reset codes, clear maintenance lights, set maintenance intervals, etc. My license allows a limit of 10 motorcycles. I would need to pay a lot more to go beyond that. I live 110 miles (round trip) to closest dealership so I figured it was worth it. Free software updates for life.
-
I have Bob's software and cable also. It doesn't lock to the individual slingshot. I have it somewhere. I guess I need to sell it to someone that can use it. I can't anymore for sure.
If I find my cable and software I'll put it in the marketplace.
-
If it's slightly used, I'd be interested in it

Where can we buy this ECU readers?

IIRC, these guys came up with the first software to read and modify the Slingshot's ECU - https://obd2allinone.com/slingshotscan.asp. Here's another, more expensive software - https://store.custombuiltmotor…-polaris-slingshot-1.html.

The one from Bob at MEfiburn (first link - https://obd2allinone.com/slingshotscan.asp) can scan and log, but can not modify the tune, just FYI.
