I noticed this today while I was putting my plates back on. Hasn't been driven since we've been back from eureka springs. I checked both sets of gears, and could not find nothing wrong with the teeth on them.

Trooper is it possible that a pebble or something got caught in between teeth on your cog and stayed there long enough to damage each belt rib before falling out? Did you feel any vibration for a period of time? That's no bueno!
I thought the same thing, there was a vibration for awhile. that may have been my vibration problem all along.

Technically, it's only a spare if it's meant to replace your main belt.
Nice offer though!

Try checking the clearance on the belt when the suspension is fully compressed and extended . My guess is it's rubbing something when the suspension travels.
Hope this helps

Yes, go ahead and run it. I just looked at the belt on Sling I with 101,000 miles it still looks new

I have a wall of belts that have become spares because they are compromised, but they are all for off-road equipment. I won't trust something less than 100% in the woods. In town you can always get a tow so my recommendation is, of course, GET THE QUAD!!!

Looks to me like a stone got caught in one of the teeth and damaged the belt before the stone got flung off. A damaged belt is just about the only reason listed in the Service manual for needing early replacement or at 150K miles.

Took the SS out for a ride yesterday, all seemed well. didn't feel any vibrations and the belt seemed to do good. it will only be on there till the end of October when my trakhamr arrives.

has anyone actually worn out a belt?
-
I don't know of any worn out (and we all know a few that are being abused), but I have heard of a couple being damaged, at least 1 due to owner trying a different rear cog that didn't match the belt.
