With the Corona Virus shutting down Atlantic City, Las Vegas and just about every other casino, there's a local chain of gas stations here that has installed slot machines inside their bathroom stalls. I stopped to get gas yesterday and went inside to buy a soda and use the bathroom. As I sat down in my stall, a voice from the next stall asked me, "Are you going to play your slot machine while you're in there?"
I replied, "No. I was planning on doing CRAPS"

The stats for 2016 are 533,126 a year in the USA that's 1,460 / day
This whole living thing is killing' us!
2017 stats from the CDC. Wonder where Covid will end up in this list?
EDIT: I find number 14 rather alarming since I have it and all my Drs have been telling me it's not terminal.....

LIFE is terminal!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Speaking of sounding like BD, what happens if the economy completely shits the bed and we have millions of people trying to find ways to put food on their tables? What effect will this have on crime, like home invasions? Time to buy more ammo? The governor of SC closed a whole new list of stores yesterday including department and sporting goods stores. However, he SPECIFICALLY stated that this didn't apply to firearms retailers. Is he trying to tell us something??
Time to buy ammo was a very long time ago - - - - same with food and water.
Seriously, this coronavirus and the shutdown of stores has come on slowly compared to a natural disaster or other things that could happen and people have had time to go out and get things. - - - Unlike BD I am not a conspiracy theorist, and I do not by any stretch of the imagination consider myself a prepper - - but I personally think it would be downright foolish not to have at least 2 to 4 weeks worth of food on hand at all times and a supply of water for as long and longer would be better. - - - I also think anyone who has the above and wants to keep it needs a supply of SHTF ammo that they never let drop below whatever minimum they deem essential to protect what they have.
Something interesting to share - - over two weeks ago they were interviewing the Palm Springs police chief on the local TV network and they asked him what they were doing about this Coronavirus - - He rattled off all of the steps they were taking to do their job and keep everyone safe during these times and then he said, but mostly we are training for and preparing for the next phase when things really get crazy and there could be rioting and looting - - - - -This was more that 2 weeks ago and things were still very calm yet this was something that he thought they needed to be ready for, even here in a very quiet desert tourist destination - - -
It doesnt take much to push people over the edge, and things can go south much faster than they have so far with this virus - - - as such having supplies and ammo is not something I think people should wait to get until they need it - - - - if you do there is a very good chance it just wont be there
Edward NealIt doesnt take much to push people over the edge,
True True. ...BUT this cuts both ways - how many are going to be pushed over the edge this coming week when the numbers don’t add up?
Perhaps me...
Where are the crazy large death tolls of grocery clerks? Essential workers??
Why are we not quantifying?
My Barbie said this stay at home did a number on me, so she had to fix it.
Ludwig van Beethoven, and he need a haircut too!
All life is precious however...this is the dollar amount / cost given the stimulus of $8 trillion / 7000 deaths .

Was listening to a broadcast last night and they claimed that since the lock down based on averages the number of people not dying from car accidents, work place accidents, bicycle accidents, and other things people are not doing while "social distancing" far outnumber the people passing from the virus.
Not to downplay anyone's passing but I did find it interesting if accurate .....

I agree, people can and will lose it without much of a push. Its just another thing I like about living in an area that is isolated from the bigger population areas of the State - and right now even fewer people are around because 90+% of the seasonal people have gone home - - - - fortunately from what I have seen the idiots that riot usually do so right where they live and with the demographics of our full time population the numbers of likely rioter types is even smaller that our population would indicate - - - I suspect us old folks are not inclined to riot - although looting could be an option

Or you could look at it like this: 2,000,000,000,000 (what has been spent so far) /327,000,000 (population of the US) = $5,376.34 each to try to keep the rest of us alive and out of poverty.
