When attaching ratchet straps on the control arms do you use axle straps or just attach the hook onto the control arm itself? Not sure what would be best. Maggie Valley this year will be my first time on a trailer so I sure want to get it right!
Thanks for any help or tips anyone may have.

This is my setup. Disregard the BLUE STRAP passing through the rear tire. Highly not recommended.

Yes, I know where to connect I just am unsure of how. At the control arm would it be better to wrap an axle strap around it and then connect the hook of the ratchet strap to the axle strap or would it be best to connect the hook directly to the control arm?

I haven't trailered my SS, but I would feel more comfident using axle straps.

I have talked about e-trac best I have used. It holds tire down to trailer, no movement of sling . Worth every dollar, easy to use.

There are 'soft ties' --- that are just looped pieces of strapping material that I use around the 'parts' and than hook the ratchet straps to the 'soft tie'...
check Walmart... or local MC dealer soft ties - Google Search aclk?sa=L&ai=DChcSEwi5wu60k5PbAhWYuMAKHVDaDMcYABAaGgJpbQ&ohost=www.google.com&cid=CAASE-RoCTjaB9byHwLEWPegeT0wInM&sig=AOD64_2NVaYS80x7Gll9zF2isHU1cb_RGw&ctype=5&q=&ved=0ahUKEwjZrem0k5PbAhUg0IMKHXAsCJIQ9aACCDA&adurl= -

I feel much more comfortable with this track set up...the wheels sit on the track and you can get much more screws of bolts through the wood...or frame where it crosses...tracks are different lengths...

Thanks everyone for the imput. I do like the wheel straps but unfortunately with MV coming up after next week I am committed to axle straps. I thought they were the way to go I just wanted to double check with those more experienced than myself. Thanks again.

Lots of different ways to do it. Use of 'soft ties' keeps scratching of a minimum.
Also good to check straps every time you stop for coffee or gas.... -
Yes check the straps when stopped but also give your trailer a once over also when stopped. Check the hitch and pins and chains before heading back out and also not a bad idea to give the tires a look at and if your careful give the wheel hubs a touch to see if one feels hotter than the others. Might save you a failure while driving at a high speed.

Spoken like a man with experience! Good Advice!

infrared heat checker is the best, hit each tire and hub when you first stop, re torque trailer lug nuts at least twice at start of trip. After stop check hitch for some nitwit did not screw with it.

I have trailered my SS between Nova Scotia and Florida for each of the past two winters. I use wheel type straps for both front tires. At the rear I fabricated a strap which holds the wheel in place. As others have said, at every stop a walk around check is a good idea. I choose to leave the transmission in neutral with the parking brake engaged. It being a Canadian SS, I also activate the anti theft ignition system. Wheel straps are from Harbor Freight. I installed additional D ring anchor points on my trailer to provide ideally suited locations for the straps. The Polaris factory trailering cover fits great and no chafing. However the Twist roof structure needs to come off (a 5 minute job) and gets stashed in the SS. The cover needed a couple of slots cut in it (which I had reinforced at a local upholstery shop) at the front to allow good placement of the forward wheel strap anchor clips.
