I don't give two shits about renaming army bases because of who they are named after. Name one Camp Unicorn sounds fine to me. It makes me mad when retired generals make political statements to make themselves look relevant. They took no action when in positions of authority because they valued their power and position over doing the right thing. It wasn't a problem when they were in charge? Setting aside whether you are for it or against it, you have to admit, it is very unusual to have statues of the leaders of losing side of a war allowed by the winning side of that war let alone military bases named after those leaders,

usually the winning side in a war goes out of their way to obliterate such things

they are mostly in the south.....and they were probably named by politicians to get southern sympathizers votes.... So I would say politics had a large hand in their naming....but

like I said - no matter which side you are on it is still unusual but then again it was an internal war amongst ourselves so it was different that most other wars

Many where placed/named as a sign of unity, forgiveness, and of a country striving to become one America. An effort to heal a nation rather than assign winners and losers, also to recognize that we can have differences but still all be one nation.

Coming together after a period of national strife is unfortunately no longer a goal of the political class and even attempting to try and understand what and why someone may have done something they believed in but that does not run in lock step with your club is heresy.

Hollywood and professional sports and musicians should really take note of this... I think if more people voted with their dollars and not like what we are doing now things might change. I really don't care what Billie weird hair has to say or Kappernick, or the NFL. I have quit watching the NFL not because of this stuff but just because it is boring. When Tony Homo can sit in the booth and predict what is going to happen on the field with great certainty it is no longer interesting. Every team runs the same plays and does the same stuff...boring...NBA... you can have it... never have been interested. NHL has become national wimpy league... What made hockey good to me is long gone... Not talking about the fighting just the game on the whole.. MLB... come on.. that was really only ever good for a beer and a hot dog...and maybe a nap. Our country is so consumed by this sports crap that we have lost sight of a lot of things that we could be doing with our time not wasting it on viewing other play a game.

Yea, one day I will count the number of different Confederate flags that I have, I think that I have all of them and put a different one up on the flag pole about every 5 days.
