My suggestion was to have a prioritized wish list, and each person with a wish list could put a certain amount of money towards their account whenever they wanted, and even set up automatic payments. When the account reaches the dollar amount required for the next item on the wish list, BAM! The account is debited, the part ships, and on we go, saving up for the next item.
