I'm sure this has been asked before, but has anyone had any experience with Plasti Dip? I want to change up the Slingshot a little this summer and add some black to the front of my red Slingshot. I have seen the you tube videos from some owners but they don't actually show how they did it.
I found this picture online from a youtube video called "BMM Build" so I'm giving credit to the person in case they are on these boards.
The sides is the look I want to go for and add a dragon on the hood I found at Amazon.
I nned to measure but the dragon is 22' by 22'
Any help and advice would be appreciated.

Is that a ram air intake in front of the driver. I need to have a look at the video. There is a couple of members who have experience with it with the only problems being where there is contact with the coating.

Ram air intake? I don't see it...
Anyway, yes, I used Rustoleum peel coat (rattle can) and it has held up okay, but already peeling in the spots that have contact. I did my wings and front, with the intentions of doing the fenders, but gave up on it due to the peeling...

Yeah. Plasti dip isn't slingshot friendly. The slingshot has way to many areas that actually rub each other. And there are to many places you will come in contact with the plasti dip. Here is what mine looked like. And I had 7 coats. And I had the top coat wipe applied to it. It does look good but take my advise and paint it or at least wrap it. Plasti dip will only piss you off. Especially when you prep the surface and take all the time to remove the panels. (and yes you will have to remove the panels to spray it with Plasti dip)
So it is just heartache when stuff flexes and you start to see it peel.

All this work lasted about 7 days before it started to peel. First place was the console. Second was the wings on the side where you butt or hands touch getting in and out. Next was were the windshield touches the two plastic parts under it. Then the hood started peeling where the center part touches the outer wings. They flex and touch. So it will happen. As good as it looked it was only temporary. Very temporary...
I hope I helped you to skip the plasti dip.. And I hope I did a fair job explaining why it would peel...

Really by the time you prep for plasti dip just paint it... I painted mine myself and I used a semi glass top coat over a pearl white.

Mine is Plasti-Dipped...and it's been really good for almost a year. The only places I notice any kind of deviation from day one is where I and the passenger get in and out of the SS. The rest of it has held up great.
-
That is where mine peeled first. And then the console where your hip runs it. Then the plastic where the windshield is.

I used for cup holders. For small projects I would say go for it but like the Fellas are saying big projects I wouldn't trust it. They do make a clear coat for a little integrity, but best bets to just paint if your talking hood , body panels.

Thank you everyone for the advice. Looks like I will be passing on the Plati Dip.
I love the color schemes everyone picked. -

Sure looks like the satin version of the new SLR blue...
