Well, I know you prefer to do some of your own electrical work, and the parts are pretty readily available at Amazon or an electrical supply store. I just wanted you to see the thread. I think @sideseatdriver and I are pretty sold on this and agree we are going to put ours on the outside. And I'm seriously thinking we need the larger battery mod as well.
You won't be sorry you did this mod. An ounce of of security goes a long way...especially if you ever have a dead battery!

Yeah, thaaaat's not good. Get you a terminal scrubber if you don't have one.

I'm a dumbass, I forgot, you already have this on yours, don't you? And you had someone else put it in with the kit vice wiring it yourself. Disregard then, I was thinking you still needed it. Anyway....I don't think I'm savvy enough to build my own kit, so I'll probably just pick up the ready-made one.

I thought you already knew that!?!?! LOL!!! No prob. Get the kit, and we'll have it installed in no time. But get the BIG battery, first.

I've been wanting to upgrade to an Optima battery but the stock one just won't die - prolly waiting til I'm in the middle of nowhere to crap out

Which one are you running now?

We are running the Optima Gel Cell.

Here is how I did mine...

You can get the physical disconnect at your local Napa parts store. And I already had the large stereo power wire. I believe it was 4 guage. Make sure you solder all your connections.. You can use my jump points as actual jump points and not just charge points. When you look at these pictures you can see how to hook everything up to install the auxiliary ports. Just don't let the extra battery I have confuse you.
I left my lights and key on in Murphy and ran my main battery down. I had my 2nd stereo amplifier battery charged but I couldn't use it to start my SS. The isolator worked perfectly and isolated the 2nd battery. To use that battery I need to create a temporary switch for use in an emergency.
Basically the way it is now I can't (or shouldn't) be able to run the main battery down while listening to the stereo... And I can't... But that same protection kept me from using it the opposite way....It will be nice to use it as a backup cranking battery. So that ability will be added soon. Just a heavy switch to join positives till it starts. Then switched back apart..

For those searching for an item, use search tempest (link provided below). It searches eBay, Craigslist, etc. & you can narrow down your geographical search range as desired. It is VERY useful...
