@Ruptured Duck It'll fit just fine. That's what I'm running as well.
Display MoreIt was a joke but just for general information ....
The Kenda Kaiser K20 255-35ZR20 can be had for an average of around $80 - Polaris no longer has them specially made with "Slingshot" on the sidewall.
One source : $78.93 - Kenda Kaiser (KR20) - tires | Buy Kenda Kaiser (KR20) tires at SimpleTire
Polaris lists the same for $238 retail .....

That's a pretty good price on the Kenda.
When I replaced my first 2 Base rear tires, I ordered Kendas thru a local dealer and they ran around $135 mounted. I tired to order a 3rd tire, but they were now more interested in selling me some take-off tires that I didn't like, so I tried a 295/30ZR18 Sumitome HTR Z III and a Nankang NS-20 275/35R18 at around $200 and $100, respectively, plus mounting. Only got about 5000 miles on the Sumitomo , but currently have around 7500 miles on the Nankang w/more tread left.
Will soon install a Nitto 555 G2 315/35ZR17 to help w/my soon-to-be-installed Hahn turbo. The tire will be on an American Muscle 10th Anniversary Cobra Style 17 x 10.5" wheel, which will be about 3/4" off-center to the left since its a 28 mm Offset wheel.

I kept going rounds with my tire guy. He said that it 285/30 will fit, but depending on the shoulder of the tire, it could potentially have an issue if you are taking it through corners hard. I am going with a 275/30 on mine since that is the "recommended" fit. It was a coin toss between the Hankook Ventus V12 and the Nitto 555...I am leaning Hankook right now.

Are you looking at the Nitto 555 or Nitto 555 G2? The G2 is said to be much better than the original 555.

G2...the hankook seems to get very similar reviews. Cost is substantially lower.

Let us know how you like whichever tire you get.
hey guys, i am horrible when it comes to tires and how to pick the right one so I come here for advice
is 285/35/20 safely possible for the rear? what kind of issues will it create?
will it look weird with the fronts being stock and the back being 285/30/20?

the /35/ will be too tall. You're better off with the /30/ for the rear. That's what many of us have gone with on the rear. I'm running 285/30/20
@xxx4reggie that's why I started the thread because I wanted enough feedback before pulling the trigger. Agree the 35 will be too tall. I'm going with 285/30/20 and will post pics of the before (275/30/20) and after as well as sidewall fitment to the rim.
285 is the max width (actually one size too wide from manufacturers recommendation) for the stock SL 20" rim. Willing to give it a go for the expected life of the tire.... 7,000 to 8,000 miles.
As for the look. It will look great!

awesome, TY for posting this!
Can you take side shots too so we can see how it looks with it being a little thinner.
I had the Hankook k120, 275-35-20 installed prior to going to Maggie Valley. and it worked great on stock wheels. The tire worked well going through the turns and curves of the Smoky Mountains.

Uh, 5mm?
Uh, 5mm?
lol
So is the actual face of the tire 10" wide?
one thing that is being not mention, make sure for the rear its not asymmetrical tire
