@mniron It was good to meet you at Maggie and talk with you about the hood buttons. I am really sorry to hear about you and your wife. I am glad that you guys are ok and just remember...it could have been a lot worse. Just one more reason that I am thinking about getting a trailer. I know I will catch a bunch of crap from guys like @rabtech and @WingShot since I give them so much crap about trailering and not driving, but after hydroplaning twice myself now, it is not worth risking my life and my machine over. Wishing you and Mavis a speedy recovery!

@mniron sorry to hear of your mishap, wishing clear skies and smooth sailing from here on ...
Now...to everyone else .... why the frak didn't you post it was a site member doing these instead of just "some guy" ...... I would have kept my big fat trap shut ......
.
no harm I'm sure. The thread went in the correct direction up until we found out about the accident. The knowledge he has for putting together a complete SlingShot kit is the key. Sounds like he has a plan...

Dam - sorry you had such a bad experience on the way home.
Very happy to hear both of you are OK and that you sling survived.
I enjoyed meeting both of you an am very grateful for your professional installation.
Just have to tell you I absolutely love my hood pins and have learned how to close the hood without slamming it. A few more tweaks on the top latches and all will be good.Heal up and we will see you again at another event soon.

Anyone concerned about this creating a weak point that will create a bigger problem due to vibration ?
It's not like a metal hood, any thoughts? -

It's not like a metal hood, any thoughts? They have a very wide area that they cover on the plastic. And the pins go into the metal area above the lights. I think if they stay shut it will work well. Its when they are loose that it would bother me. I think i want to add hood pads to my hood and let that push against the pins a little bit to cause them to have some resistance all the time. I think it will cut all the vibration out.

Not sure I understand what you are trying to do? are you saying you want to add pads under the pins?
So far mine have worked very well - opening and closing OK and no vibrations -

My hood is pretty tight with those pins not sure I can even fit a pad with out adjusting some tension out of the pins
Aint broke at the moment so I am not going to try and fix it -
-
No, I dont have hood pads. just the one in the middle. I was thinking about adding them where they are normally. I haven't ever had hood pads....

Get the new 2017 hood bumpers they work great and are the cheapest part you will ever buy with the Polaris name on them.
Much better than the old style pads. Just make sure you leave in the original center pad on the top of the hood. -
here are the part numbers
there is also a thread "New Hood Bumpers" has some pictures
Quick search on cyclesprings website shows these bumper pads if it helps. Pn: 2206305 -
I've heard that the dealers will replace them under warranty if they fall off.
