......ok so I found some courage and they ain't lying when they say once you make that first cut, your committed.........now comes what I think might be the hardest part which is the sanding.......and im not sure what I'm going to use for that......I'm also thinking about cutting out the 2 small holes up front in the morning.....
not something I am ever going to try, but looking at the pictures it looks like a router with a flush trim bit might be the perfect tool for that. looks like the bearing on the bit could run right around the frame and get you the perfect cut with no need for sanding - - - but as I said, not something I will ever do

....lol im laughing because your probably absolutely right but than the job would be 1 2 3.......and that wouldn't be fun lol......but I'm making progress and have all winter long to either 1 complete it with out destroying it or 2 buy a new hood ......and a router is one of the tools I never had a need to buy also.... you can see from the pic how one side is different from the other side, once i get the holes exactly how i want em ill flip the hood over for final sanding...

well - however you do it, your doing better than me - I wouldn't even attempt cutting my hood - I do like the looks when its done, but just would never feel comfortable actually doing it.

I have been liking the look on many that I have seen posted here, but have not seen any in person. not many events here and there are not many other slingshots here in my valley. But with my Slingshot bing my daily driver I probably tend to be on the conservative side when it comes to mods. Much more interested in low budget performance mods like suspension mods. I do very much look forward to seeing how yours turns out.

I'm surprised that you are actually cutting the hood. What I have seen a lot is separating the outer hood cover from the under hood structure. I've even seen that filled/modified and painted. Might be another option.
Are you planning on filling the holes with something like wire mesh or ??

.....well I don't really know what the plan is .....I've gone Dremel Happy & instead of 6 holes I have 10.... WTF....once i finish with the major outline cuts i'll flip the hood over & hopefully by tomorrow night and see what i've created......now i was thinking about using this in grey (need a color besides blue or black to make it pop)
https://www.amazon.com/gp/prod…?smid=A3N4XG5DQJDQ0G&th=1
.....and im also thinking about a mesh screen maybe in black, which I can't really see me leaving these holes open......so I'll see once I flip it

I believe that gooseman has his cutouts fillled with mesh screen and looks good.

........well got started early & was able to finish the major cuts and flipped it over, I'm loving it but know there's more work for a dynamite look......I'm about to order the trimming and mesh screen and by the time that arrives I'm hoping to be finish with the sanding .....

MADDMOE are those translucent panels in your new openings with the underlighting? I haven't seen that look before and whatever it is, it's looking badass. You might be inspiring me. I like the cut hood look but don't want it open to liquid sunshine (rain). Thanks for sharing!

.... .thanks and there is nothing in the holes yet, hopefully the rest of what im doing arrives on monday, thats just 4 of those COB led strips i cut up , wired and mounted......and I feel you about the rain and I have been caught in 2 big storms ....but knowing what I did to my hood now I'll be finding cover or the exit quicker to find cover .....that was factored in b4 I began this but the look made me do it.....

I continue with my next project, this is still all just testing. (still needs fine tuning) I did sew the Patch to a marine grade canvas to see how it works. I use my whole feminine side for this one.

I must have missed that side when we met.
Really cool what you're doing in your 'retirement' Dieter. You continue to impress!
