I think Jeff Welter is going to help me carry two 3" pipes out the back. I can only pray he can.
To save money and weight, couldn't you run a single 3" for the exhaust and a smaller, shorter pipe that dumps underneath for the wastegate?
-
I dont know... I will let Jeff figure it out.. Hopefully he can get to it soon...

I have found the weak spot in my whole system. You would not believe what it is. ..
It's my ears........ I am going f-ing deaf. I drove it today and when I got back home I went into the house and all I can hear is ringing.
I turned the tv on and I normally listen to the tv on 20. I had to turn it to 30 to even hear the words above the ringing in my ears.
I am running the first turbo magnaflow exhaust that dumps straight out the bottom. I guess i'm going to have to put the baffles in it and if I loose a few horsepower that will be ok. Because I CAN NOT stand the droning. I ran it in 3rd and 4th just so the exhaust note would be higher.
This has nothing to do with the actual mechanical parts of the SS but it rattles my soul to the core after about 100 miles of Interstate driving at 85 and 90mph.
Thanks
That answers my question I will sacrifice the HP and keep the side exhaust
-
I don't even want to hear the side exhaust at this point. You can't imagine how this thing drones at 70 to 80mph. It's absolutely mind numbing.
Again this has nothing to do with engines and turbos. It has to do with letting those parts breath. And I am ready to suffocate mine a bit to get my sanity back.
It takes about 30 miles for the fun to wear thin when it's droning on and on and on.
-
Is the sound coming from the manifold/exhaust side or is it centered more around the actual engine/turbo side? Just trying to get a sense of what could lend itself as a possible remedy. Make sense?
-
Molded ear plugs? I wear foamies just to get rid of the air flow noise, but the molded ones are much better. And they sit flush to your ears, no sticking out. And they would likely cut out the pitches that are doing the most damage, while leaving the good rumble through your chest.

My Barbie is happy with one pipe but is bigger than 3"

Been wearing them since I switched from the full-face helmet. Just trying to get a feel for the increased noise garnered from adding so much power. I really need to look at this carefully, before I subject my "better half" to the noise demon. If boosting the power plant creates an unbearable riding experience for her...the fun is over. And we all know...if mama ain't happy,...you know the rest.

Rab
I know I am not putting out the flow you are but I am running a MagnaFlow muffler up front that dumps out the back. All tubing is 2.5 inch ovalized.
It does put the big sound behind me going down the road.
Real simple system that works great. -
Make sure your fluids are level...This will quiet it down Rab

Talk to Bill Hahn about a Turbo or Dave at DDM about a super charger. It is a personal preference but the horsepower on a stock motor would be similar. If you go with a basic set up on either you will get a big jump in HP 250 plus.
Either one could explain the options and pros / cons then you could decide -

Is there any warranty after the mod?
-
Our DDMWorks supercharger kit is currently $4,900. This kit will put you at about 280 HP at the wheel. The last one we just installed did 270 on, what these guys will tell you, was not the ideal day for dyno runs. ( Hot and Sticky )
The kit is very easy to install at home if you have some tools and some time. It comes with full color instructions.
@Dave@DDMWorks and I were able to bang that last one out in 2 hours.
Let me know if you have any questions about it and we will get you fixed up!
