Anyone know what Torx bit sizes are needed for the various screws/bolts on the SS? I've seen T25, T30, T40 mentioned, but just wondering if anyone knows what set is best to buy to be able to access every nook and cranny.
Thanks!

I went to HARBOR FREIGHT they have great sets of Torx bits and Hex handle sets.
Picked up this nice set on Amazon a couple years ago. Still only $16.99

do yourself a favor invest in a quality set it will pay off in the long run.
I'm not knocking anyone's suggestions. I'm just saying as much as I use mine because the SS has all torx heads for most of its fasteners you will use them a bunch.
Chad isn't wrong, but I also agree with toons2 that the Harbor Freight set is fine because you shouldn't be needing it after the initial mods binge.
Yes have that set and have a snap on set also. If your going to mod out your machine like some on here where its apart weekly then spend some money. But for and ocassional mod harbor freight will work.
Thanks for the suggestions. Does anyone know which specific bits are used on the SS?
Walmart has this on sale for $12, which seems like it might be nice to keep in the SS in case you're on the road and need to access the battery or storage under the roll bar or have to do a repair:
Electronic Repair Metal Shank T40-T9 Security Torx Screwdriver Bit Set 8 in 1 - Walmart.com
If this set is all you need to access every nook and cranny, it might be good for general things as well. Not as nice as the sets recommended above, but very compact and useful for carrying onboard at all times.
BKL posted this list on the dark side, so I guess that answers my question:
ToolUses
Torx Bits -
T40 - Most body panel screws
T30 - ?Can't remember at the moment?
T25 - Smaller body pieces, underhood Hi-Low screws for inserts
T20 - Polaris speaker modules
Hex Bits -
4mm - Outer Headlights
Sockets -
10mm - Lower wing bolts
13mm - Side mirror adjustment
16mm - Roll Hoop bolts
1-5/8" or
41mm - Original Rear Axle Nut
1-3/4" - New Double Axle Nuts
Misc.
Body Panel Pliers - Plastic rivets
Extra plastic rivets and metal fasteners. (Remember to always start fasteners by hand as they break easily if cross-threaded.)
40 and 25 torx will do 85% of the SS
That's the ones I just got from Amazon
Picked up this Craftman torx set while at Sears. only $30
Craftsman 42-Piece 1/4" and 3/8" Drive Bit and Torx Bit Socket Wrench Set
craftsman are nice if you brake anything walk into sears and no questions asked they exchange it right on the spot.
That's one reason I buy craftsman. Harbor freight for stuff where exacting standards aren't too important ... Like hammers
Craftsman for most. I like MAC and Snap-On but can't justify their prices for a DYI'er
A buddy of mine and his brother used to go out in the dumpster behind sears when we were kids. They would just throw the broken whatever out each day sockets, wrenches, screwdrivers etc etc. They would take turns going in taking turns having friends go in so it wouldn't look so obvious. Anyways the manager of the store must have broke some sockets of his own. They were labeled with his initials needless to say the dumpster was soon chained up and locked after that.

Bummer - I was hopeful of my next career.
I pick up Craftsman tools at swap meet. when I see them. I don't know what it's like in the rest of the country but the sears here is just getting more and more sad. They don't stock anything and the parking lots are empty. With in five years I see them going back to being a catalog store like they were a hundred years ago. Just online with regional warehouses and without physical stores.

They own K Mart and I think that was a poor move. I still believe in sears and their service network. No matter what the price if you can't get parts there is no point.
