Good luck with the surgery. I had a "pinched" ulnar nerve on my left elbow. Had surgery last month. The issue was found because I lost feeling in my pinky and "half" of my ring finger. Surgery was quick with just a small incision but feeling won't return for up to a year as the never regenerates at a rate of about an inch a month. Lucky the surgery was on my left arm and the brace they used to keep the arm straight still allowed me to ride the slingshot although it was difficult. Surprising that there was absolutely NO pain from the minute I work up after the surgery. They gave me a prescription for Tylonol with Codine but I haven't had to take them. Hopefully same goes for you.

Brace is off and I can finally use my arm after three weeks. :)

That's one reason I buy craftsman. Harbor freight for stuff where exacting standards aren't too important ... Like hammers

Craftsman for most. I like MAC and Snap-On but can't justify their prices for a DYI'er

We use the Sena smh10r. Bought the r for the low profile.

Crystal clear phone conversation and intercom. I don't use it for music but my friend does and says it sounds great.

My only complaints is the range isn't great with the R and pairing 4 units rather than just two is more difficult then it should be. I can accept the shorter range - I'm thinking because its the low profile model.

Usually its just me and the wife and for the two of us, its perfect. Local dealer matched the Amazon two pack price AND installed them for free. Can't beat that.

Yep, PA is the same. I usually keep my H&K in the glove box but I may buy a open carry holster.

The sling is so open and exposed, I'd feel safer if it was easily accessible.

PA is open carry as well but odd..... You can open carry in PA with no license but can't carry loaded it in the car without a concealed carry permit. Then again, the permit is 10 minutes at your local sheriff's office and $20. Good for 5 years. No class or anything else needed so there really isn't an excuse not to have one.

I used to work at a high end audio/video place years ago. Thats "cheap" compared to some of the stuff out there. Here are some examples:

    http://www.graniteaudio.com/cable/page9.html - 6 ft silver rca cables $1280

    http://snakeriveraudio.com/ind…nfo&cPath=1&products_id=5 $1796 for THREE feet (1m)

And prices just go up from there. I've seen people pay over $1000+ for silver speaker cable. They think it will make all the difference. They're kidding themselves. Except for the very few high end systems that were designed and built into a custom room designed to house the system and block exterior noise/etc., it will make no difference.

But you know what they say about a fool and their money.

Of course I do have a pair of high end 1 meter RCA cables. Cost was $500 new but we were changing out equipment and the owner sold them to me for $75 so..................

And yeah, it really doesn't make a difference.

For great equipment and prices, check out http://www.monoprice.com, I know a lot of installers that swear by their stuff. Also many of the high end audio mags use their equipment.

    Just MHO, hope it helps.

Yep I'd agree with the one change at a time approach. I should know better but I figured it wouldn't be an issue.....my mistake. Its a royal pain to track down issues. It ALWAYS seems to be the LAST thing you check :)

Also, lucky (or unlucky, at least for your wallet) living so close to Cycle Springs. I'd be flat broke if I did

Note, this happened a few weeks back.....

Background: I ordered a set of the adjustable JRi/Alpha shocks from Cycle Springs. After installation of the shocks and Stoptech brake kit I had a BAD (like really really bad) shaking at 62 mph. I thought it may have been a tire out of balance as that is the usual suspect (even though I didn't have the vibration before installation). I had the tires balanced - no luck, still had the vibration.

I thought it may have been an out of balance brake rotor since they are spinning with the wheels. So off comes the brake kit and on goes the factory front brakes. STILL no luck. :cursing:

I didn't think it could be the but I took off the fronts and went for a drive and I STILL (!) had the vibration. Then I changed the rear shock back to stock and the vibration was gone. So looks like I had a bad rear shock. There was some leaking oil and it was banging and clanking over every bump. I was really surprised that it was a bad rear shock causing the vibration. ?(

Resolution: I emailed Noel on a Sunday about the issue. I called Cycle Springs on Monday but Noel was off. While waiting I emailed Henry at Alpha late Monday night. Noel got back to me on Tuesday and asked some questions. He agreed it sounded like a bad shock and that he'd contact asap Henry about how we can get it replaced. While on the phone with Noel, Henry called me (it must of been like 7 AM for Henry). Henry also agreed it sounded like the shock was bad. He emailed me a return shipping label to send my shocks back at no cost. I called Noel back to inform him that Henry is taking care of the situation and to thank him for offering to take care of it as well.

JRi, sent a new rear back (along with my original fronts - i had red zip ties on them so I knew they were my originals). Total time was less then two weeks from when I sent them back.

Tonight I put on the new rear only and took the Sling for a drive. I'm happy to say there is no vibration and everything feels good. Next the fronts will go on. Then a drive. Finally the brakes again....then a drive.

Both Noel and Henry, provided GREAT customer service and I will continue to do business with them in the future.

Aside: I do feel a bit cursed at times :) First my power steering unit gets replaced and I still have the dreaded power steering failure on occasion. Waiting for a flash from Polaris (dealer says they are working on ANOTHER flash update), my angle drive explodes AND I get a bad shock from what all accounts says are a top quality manufacture in JRi. I know sometimes these things happen but still........ :(

Well the good news is the angle drive was replaced within a week. The new one is MUCH quieter. The previous one had a lot of whine which i thought was normal. Seems it definitely wasn't right from the beginning.

Hopefully it was a one off issue. If this would of happened when i was in the twisties, it would have been really really bad. Gear oil would have dumped on the rear wheel and it would have been all over for the SS and maybe even me.

But at least it didn't take long for it to be fixed.

Stopped by the dealership today. They just got the replacement unit in. Hopefully it will be installed in the next few days and all will be right with the world :)

Sounds like this may have been the first failure of its type from what the service manager said (speaking for Polaris). Not sure if this is 100% accurate but I haven't heard anywhere online of a similar failure - it split on the case, not at a seam or joint.

Polaris wants it returned along with my steering unit. I guess they want to examine the failures and see what caused them. I assume others have had their steering units returned for similar diagnostics.

WoW the dealer must have Hot-Rod'ed the sh_t out of it
guys with big rear tires, turbo, blowers & V-8"s have not broken rear ends
    .........
    .......................................... tom n carol

I would hope not. Knowing them, I sincerely doubt they did anything unusual. I assume I just got a bad angle drive from the factory since people with much more power (mine is 100% stock at the moment) haven't damaged theirs in a way similar to mine afaik.

I really don't have a clue why it broke other than it was bad from the start. I even had them change the drive fluid at the initial 500 mile service. Maybe they didn't add enough fluid?

Kind of a bummer but as long as its fixed and fixed correctly, it'll be ok. Not much I can do about it anyway.

Staying positive and hoping this is the last major issue.

I do have a good dealer - Reading Standard Motorsports in Reading PA. It was previously named "Ray's Yamaha" but they changed the name a few years ago when Ray passed away and it was taken over by his son Mike and they also added additional brands to Yamaha - Polaris, Suzuki, etc. It is the oldest family owned Yamaha dealership in the country. I used to work there as a part time salesman in my late teens (seems like a lifetime ago).

The owner is a good person and cares about his customers.

They stayed an hour after closing to get my SS ready when I was purchasing it.

Hopefully this gets corrected as soon as possible and I don't have any more major surprises. Then I can start adding the goodies I bought to the Sling - Stoptech big brake kit, Alpha two way adjustable shocks, etc. :)

The sling went in for a new power steering box on Wed last week. Went to pick it up Friday and the traction control light came on as soon as I left the dealer. They tried to adjust the sensor behind the steering wheel with no luck and said I can keep it for the weekend or bring it back Monday so they can look at it.

Well, I leave with it Friday night and the steering wheel is about 1/4 off from straight when driving straight. Not a huge issue but definitely annoying. I pull apart the entire steering column and notice that the clock ring is loose. They said they didn't touch it which leads me to believe Polaris didn't tighten it down properly. When I line up the locator pins on the clock ring and the cut out in the sensor, the wheel is offset. Either the wheel must of turned or wasn't straight when they put on the new steering box. Somehow they became miss aligned. You can't just correct it by moving the steering wheel (because of the design of how everything goes together). So I just bring it back Saturday and tell them the issue and that I'd like them to align everything properly and fix the traction control before I pick it up.

Just got a call from the service manager with good news / bad news........

Good news: Steering is aligned properly and tracking correctly.

Bad news: While on the 3.5 mile test loop they use, they heard a loud BANG. Turns out the angle drive exploded (his words). The case actually split. =O They sent pics to Polaris and ordered a new assembly under warranty. At least it happened while in their possession and I don't have any of my mods on it at the moment except for a different belt guard. But its disappointing that both the steering box and angle drive whet with only 1000 miles on the clock.

Oh well, could be worse. I could have been stranded in the middle of no where. Rain is forecast for the next four days and I'll at my daughter's college graduation all weekend so I wouldn't be using it for the next week anyway. I'm trying to see the positive, hopefully this is the last major failure. I want a turbo kit for it but I may just wait a year or so until I feel comfortable nothing else major goes wrong before I pull the trigger.
