School Shootings

  • Any thoughts on the 39 ( yes 39) times the police visited this man prior? And the tips to the FBI? Last time I checked they are supposed to protect us ..... epic fail! THAT exemplifies the phrase “ Cold dead hands “. I pray I never have to unholester in self defense but I will fight for my right to be able to.
Crazy and evil live among us and they don’t give a shit about laws. Thank God here in America we have a choice about our self defense. Be armed or not- your choice. Sadly there are those that only want the “right” people to have weapons. History is filled with horrific examples with how that worked out.

We’ll get there when we get there and not a minute before. 😎

  • Now here is something else for people to think about. You cannot buy a gun until you are 21 years of age. How many (real numbers here) single females that have graduated from high school and living on their own until they are of age of 21. How can they protect themselves. I am just using females here for a reason. Everyone wants to protect their daughters but she can only protect herself with what? A Baseball Bat. You are leaving them with 3 or 4 years of this.

    .

Something not being talked about is the proposal only raises semi-automatic long guns to age 21 ... shot guns, pump, lever, or bolt action remain 18 ... so not eliminating all options ......

  • I'm so f**cking proud to live in Florida where the Florida legislators voted to NOT discuss any bills to restrict, ban, or eliminate bump stocks as well as "assault weapons" during the current session. BUT they did vote to restrict access of pornographic videos to youths. WTF? You're more worried about 12 year olds looking at titties than you are to make sure they're safe in school and actually LIVE to make it home? If ever there's a movement to vote out the asshats in power, I'd say these votes shows where to start

    Nobody gets outta here ALIVE

  • @sideseatdriver Sorry for the delay in response. Haven’t been keeping up with this thread all that much because I’ve been working in the garage. Just checked my address book, I have contacts at CNN, Rolling Stone, Bloomberg, LA Times and a few international press folks if you need me to reach out.

*Just a warning though ~> these folks are pretty left-of-center. Happy to help though.

I'm sure they would love an article about a gun accessory store selling AR-15 accessories to minors who purchased it with a stolen credit card then refused to tell the owner of the card what was purchased (other than the fact that the item purchased made killing easier) or where it was being sent without a subpoena. Then they ignore calls from the PD with said subpoena. Think anyone you know might be interested? But I was honestly thinking of social media contacts.

I would even think the NRA would be pissed at this one. The company tends to forget that I am the victim and this young individual is the criminal they are ptotecting. At this point I would think a left leaning news agency would have a field day with it.

That would eliminate my very first gun, which I still have- my wonderful little Armalite AR 7- 2.5 #, breaks down and stores in the stock- great little rear sight. Indispensable for back-packing, camping in the great outdoors......
    I love this weapon!

I don't know... when I was 12, I was always packing and ready to fire. ;(

That aside... as @Bill Martin pointed out, he recognized he chooses a pen. Now my niece has spent over $120K on a 4 year education to be a teacher and she still needs a masters degree to do it. She's probably lucky enough to make $45-$50K in the position and now may need to consider that it's a dangerous job? We are doing a lot of talking about protecting our children, but I'd also include the teachers in that as well. I don't have an answer, but we need to stop it from happening in the first place and a solution to the problem, not just treating the outcome.

What pisses me off is that who is paying for all this training? My niece can't afford her education in the first place to come out and make what it pays. Congress is on a spending spree right now all while providing tax breaks? I've said it before... if I need to pay my bills, I don't consider a pay cut as an option but that is what congress just did this year. We do need to fix this, but who is paying for it? Until we put America first (which our govornment isn't doing right now by the way), we aren't going to be able to afford MORE debt.

So just saying... seems to me the ENTIRE issue right now seems to be communication between law enforcement, government agencies, and locals as there was more than enough red flags over this kid and yet no one did anything. That needs to be fixed BEFORE it gets to the point that it did. We keep talking about taking out a shooter, but they had months to do this before the event happened. To me, this is what needs to be fixed.

  • I’m going to pose another question. While not being well versed in assault rifles I am in shotguns. This is a Kel Tec 12 guage

It holds 15 rounds - granted you cannot reload as quickly but loaded with 00 buckshot I firmly believe in a “fish in a bowl situation” could be more deadly and kill more than the AR 15 did in Parkland. God forbid it happens but what we gonna do then - ban shotguns. I believe I am proficient enough with a shotgun I could pull the plug on my duck gun which then holds 8 rounds and do significant damage. My point being it doesn’t matter what type firearm you want to use it can be just as lethal as an AR 15 (save and except Las Vegas shooting) in a mass murder attempt. I just cannot see where more gun control is going to help in any way. When we have all the current laws functioning in the 100% range then we can look at something else. We are once again in the knee jerk reaction to an ongoing problem.

I might not be right but I can sure sound like it

I don't agree with it...... just clarifying what I have been told will probably make it to the table ......

And yup ..... great pack gun .....

    .... ninja-squared

EDIT: Conversations happening to limit it to semi-auto above certain calibers or velocities 'cause most who are screaming about banning "AR's" have no idea what they are talking about ......

  • @Bill Martin Nah, no biggie... being in politics did come with some perks!

If your situation changes @Slingrazor, let me know ~> I assure you, the folks that would be interviewing you, pull no punches!

Just cause we are on opposite ends of the political spectrum goes to show respect goes a long way toward attacking problems civilly. Works way better than rock throwing !!

  • I don’t know that much about those non lethal weapons but would anyone want to use em against someone rapid firing an AR 15. That old sayin bringing a knife to a gunfight comes to mind.....just sayin

Properly trained yes. This is all (CQC) close quarters combat. All of these idiots that commit these shootings are not trained or proficient in any CQC drills thank god. At close range in a crowded room a hand held weapon for the defender is the best option. I am not against live rounds being exchanged in a defensive engagement, I just think we would have more staff members willing to carry non-lethal weapons verses a true handgun. A good mix would be nice. If the mix is 70/30 I guarantee that the 70% would volunteer to carry non-lethal. Try not to take the term "non-lethal" lightly, these methods and means of incapacitating are brutal. It takes years of training and repetition to move toward the gunfire, let alone buy yourself. Defensive means for each classroom so you can have the intruded dead to rights at the door (in the fatal funnel) is ideal.

Ya had me up until you said “moving toward the gunfire” :00008172: Seriously, I get what you are saying but jeez that sounds like it would have a horrendous price tag attached to that implementing it in schools all over the US. It is an outstanding concept / kudos for your idea!!

  • Ok my opinion on the SRO that failed to act during the school shooting. As a retired LEO this chickenshit coward pisses me off. He failed to do his real job of protecting those kids. One of the problems with SRO programs is that those positions are often filled with less than stellar officers. To many spots filled by close go retirement officers. In this case he was an SRO for 25 years. 25 years of not working the street dealing with criminals but high fives and hugs being the students best buddy. It's apparent his long term assignment made him lose his willingness to run to the gunfire. Have lethal force available doesn't help in the hands of the unwilling.
Failure to act and failure to protect are a little different. Although it's not criminal it can be addressed in civil court.
    End of rant.
