4 wheeler.... @Turbosling, what say you, is it able to be converted? You guys lose the swingarm and angle drive anyway, no?

Wishing I was closer....

By the way, that's not me selling that motor...that's a real salvage yard....so I'm guessing they pretty much know what those motors are worth...
-
Since a DDMWorks specialty-built motor is currently available for $3850, I was horrified at the salvage yard price for the link shown above. A working engine from a junkyard should be in the $600 -1000+ range based on what I've seen others saying an older, 2007 engine with stronger internals sells for.
-
I wonder what the insurance company thinks they could get for it at a salvage sale. My initial thought was $5,700 seems high.
I agree with @Live-a-Little! I have seen SS go for way less on coparts ( salvage auctions). I would defiantly haggle with the insurance company on that price.

Perfect candidate for a quad conversion. We ditch everything from the rear frame back.

Thanks @BKL @Live-a-Little! and @Trooper. If there is one thing I've learned in life, it's that everything is negotiable!
Thanks @Turbosling, I am talking to a 'guy' about a 'project' and, anyway it's really top-secret and if I told ya I'd have to kill ya (sound familiar?), but maybe this will end up in your shop one day if the stars align!

lol it's a small world! A few months back a guy calls for a turbo kit and we get talking turns out he had a sling with our turbo but sold it because it was red and too common. As im talking to him and he tells me more about his old sling and where he is from I ask him hey did this guy buy it from you? Turns out the buyer that bought it in MD sent it to us and its here getting a quad conversion.
-
Small world indeed. I talked to a guy last week in the Tri-Cities area of Washington. He told me he has a Sling with an early Alpha turbo that he bought through an engine builder that Alpha was doing R&D with at the time. Does this ring a bell with you? I'm still not looking for a turbo Sling but enough exposure could easily corrupt me!

sent you a pm

Welcome to the family @troy @ alpha. You will love your Sling. Three Deep!

From what I've seen they do... But even if they didn't... Yours WOULD HAVE TO BE! They are amazing and one of a kind!

Well, I'm back from a weekend of riding quads and killing fish, and have just made a deal to buy a new (3.8 miles) red 2016.5 SL. I saw this deal on Craigslist, contacted the guy and thought it was a scam. @mniron saw it and it is just an hour from his house. As I type this, he is at the guy's house checking it out and brokering the deal for me. I just got off the phone with him and the seller and we're going to make it happen. @mniron is going to transport it most of the way across the country to me and take my wrecked Sling back to Minnesota or Wisconsin. One way or another it looks like it will be in Alpha's shop for a quad conversion or rebuild. I can't even begin to express my amazement and appreciation for a guy to step up and offer to do this for someone he's not even met - yet. This is a crazy world I've stepped into and I'm lovin' it! Thanks to all and I'll be burning fuel in no time!

Thank you @MiM. I forgot to mention the quad conversion being discussed will include a built motor, top mount turbo and stupid horsepower. I'm pulling for this one just because I think it would be cool!

What was the price after all? Lucky guy and lucky @SlingLow! The Lord works in mysterious ways...
Don't know what @SlingLow is paying but this guy just wanted the slingshot gone, he had absolutely no intention of driving it ,I mean last i heard it still had 3.5 miles as it was delivered to him.
He said he didn't even take it for a test drive.............
