Those are parts that come from DDM that are made to fit in after things are cut. The finished part covers the cut, so no finishing of the cut edge necessary. So many options.
Yes, very easy to do, just scary to cut in. I laid the covers in the right spots, taped around them, removed the covers, then drilled up from underneath. Then rough cuts with the vibrating saw, then final cuts with vibrating saw using frame as guide. Just a little filing/sanding to finish up some edges, but yes the cover covers all the edges. Less than an hour.
Oh, and I used different screws than provided. I used self-tapping truss head screws painted flat black to blend in. I like THscrews becuase they are very flush and don't stick way up.

Lets see what gooseman has to say.
Lrobbie did make screens at one time. I bought some stainless mesh and used very small zip ties along the edge to secure mine using small holes along the edge. I am happy with the way it turned out as you cant see the ties from the top

Thanks Tom, I don't have many of the answers but sometimes I remember who has some of them. Have a great day.
I bought Aluminum Mesh for my Grille of my Sling....
I made a plywood template that just fits snug and used that to shape the Mesh..
The Aluminum bends so nice and sharp you just have to relieve corners of the bends some ..
But making templates is way to go to have better control in shaping...
the other thing to keep in mind is direction of mesh shape to have professional look when done that all
looks uniform from left to right side depending on your Mesh Pattern selected
with aluminum Mesh you can bend the sides of grille to be longer and have the actual grille at top of hood surface
and use wire ties or use 3M double stick tape to hold grille in place..
If you decide to make your templates I would think the left and right would fit each side and then mark them left side right side .
And then fit them into hood and mark a reference line that is front to rear that is square looking to hood lines.
Hope you have fun with your open hood designs..

just close your eyes and go for it 😂😂🤣🤣 once you make a cut your committed so start small and go easy till you get the feel for it. A vibrating saw works great.
