Can the textured black panels on the hood be repainted? If so, what special procedures are required?

Yes. That is how the white panels on the new Blue model are made white. They are painted.

Super sharp sling. I drooled over it a bit when I picked up my base from champion yesterday. Sorry I missed meeting you but had some pretty tight time constraints.

@boocoodinkydow I will not act or state that I know what it takes to paint them. @Painter has painted a few. Takes some special paint and if you want them smooth my understanding is a whole lot of sanding patience.

I'll soon do an 'how to' on the black textured pieces . Just PM me and I'll walk you through it but remember.... I'll be at Maggie Valley so won't be as available as normal!

sure you can, just a lot of prep work...

I would never argue with you too much, rab....but I don't think the black textured panels are the same underneath as the smooth white ones on the blue. They felt different when i was flexing them a little. If I'm incorrect, they must have some kind of overcoat first to smooth out the texture...?

You could be correct. It would be nice to know if they white inserts start out as a smooth product.
Anybody that has a blue one want to sand the paint off and let us take a look?

Anybody that has a blue one want to sand the paint off and let us take a look?Hahahaha...No. Unless my sacrifices in the name of SlingScience were to earn me a free paint job. Although, I can't think what color I might want next, since we all know the blue one is the best and fastest.

Nice work, @chubs. I can only imagine the amount of work involved to smooth out the textured surface. Was this a diy project?

thanx, @Painter. I'm hoping to maintain the textured surface but change the color. I'll contact you when you've returned from Maggie valley. Enjoy the meet and try to stay dry and safe, a wish for all attendees.
